Got my wedding present early!

Warning: this may be the most redneck thread ever posted on TK.

FI texted me yesterday and said he had something very important to talk about. I called him a moment later and he told me he had a wedding present for me, but he had to go get it that day and he wanted to make sure I was ok with it. I told him I thought we were not exchanging gifts, and he said he had been working on this for months. He then went on to say he was about to make a trade to get me....

A 1976 CHEVY TRUCK!!!

He arranged to trade his old ATV and $300 for the truck. I left work early to go with him to look at it. It definitely needs work but over all isn't too bad. I was hesitant though because I told him I know how much he loves his ATV and I didn't want him to sacrifice that. He looked me straight in the eye and said "I would go to the ends of the earth to make you happy, and this is something we can work on together and grow stronger with."

The thing now is that I feel like I have to get him something. I didn't want to exchange gifts because IMO, its stupid. I'm marrying you and you are marrying me... what am I getting you a present for??? I might shop for bigger ATVs for him and see what he wants but i dont know.

No, we aren't exchanging gifts. FI talked and ecided (like you thought) that we're marrying each other so why gifts? Also we don't have to money so the awesome HM is like our gift to ourselves. We are going to write personal letters to deliver to each other the morning of. I thought that was an incredibly sweet idea.

I totally teared up when you said what your FI said to you. That is so cute!

We weren't formally exchanging gifts but then I just HAD to take boudoir pics for FI...couldn't help myself. So that will be his gift. He says he has a surprise for me too so we kinda are I guess. I did find out about a secret trip he took to DC (when we were long distnace). It was going to be a surprise to me but he told me the other night he doesn't think he'll be able to afford it with all the financial mishaps we've had. He told me what it was though....he went to DC to meet Robin Thicke who sings our first dance song. He was going to have him come sing at our wedding! I nearly cried when he told me but didn't want him to feel bad that it wasn't financially feasible any more. It was an incredibly sweet idea though.

OMG HOW CUTE! But I know what you mean... FI admitted to me that he had looked into getting me my dream truck, a 1949 Chevy in dark green, but the truck was a 6 speed manual, and I don't know how to drive that. I was minorly disappointed but I told him it was ok and just got over it lol.

Not Redneck AT ALL!! FI grew up with the same truck, but his dad got rid of it because he didn't have time to fix it. FI would love to find it some day.

We haven't discussed presents. I don't feel like he needs to get me anything because he's already giving me his last name. However, one of the first pieces of jewelry FI ever bought me was a Claddagh rings so I thought it would be fitting to get him Claddagh cuff links.

Thats awesome! What color was his? Mine's red. I bet being in CA it probably lasted a long time. here in NY the salt just destroys cars, so most trucks like this one are rotted out.

Awwwww!! That's so incredibly sweet!! I love it!

I have a feeling FI won't get my anything... he just doesn't think of things like that. It's the every day stuff he does that makes me heart melt and in the end that stuff matters than extra gifts (to me anyway).
I did get him a couple things mind you, but that's me... I tend to be the over-the-top-thoughtful-one lol

It was black! We would actually love to buy a 1969 Z28 Camaro some day and let it be our little family project! We are both in love with that year! We actually just custom ordered a 2012 SS Camaro with the RS package. I would post a picture, but TK is taking wayyyy too long to upload!

That is such a wonderful gift! I love how he wants to work on it with you. How beautiful.

We haven't discussed it, but I plan on getting him a gift. I already have one. I call him Robot and b/c of that all his friends call him Robot too. At a local art fair, I found a painting of a robot with a heart on its chest. It is a hyper realism painting which we both love so of course I got him that. I'm also going to work on a piece that is going to be a robot in a feild made out of trash I find.

FI is a major hippie so he will get a kick out of that. I need to start collecting trash though.

Oh man thats awesome. My brother has a 94 Z28 that's a total garage queen. I'm totally jealous of your 2012 though... good choice! The farm I'm getting married at has a 69 Z28 on the property since one of their kids just restored it. Lets hope its there when we go to take pics for the wedding :P
