Valentine's Day!

What is everyone's plan for Valentine's Day?

JP has dinner reservations, which he won't tell me about. We're not doing gifts though because of the wedding. We decided to stick to wedding day gifts instead. Either way, I'm excited. I love, love, love holidays, more than the normal person. It's really weird to me though that this will be our last unmarried Valentine's Day, or any holiday for that matter.

Re: Valentine's Day!

  • We are keeping it simple.  The local ice cream shop in town opens for the season on Monday, we'll probably get some food from there and just exchange cards and candy.  With so much going on for the wedding I told FI that I want to keep it as simple as possible.
  • We're not really celebrating. I dropped major hints that I would like yellow tulips. but other than that we said no gifts. I'm hoping he still remembers the flowers. I suggested we just do our favorite pizza by candle light :)

Whit! That's crazy! Yellow tulips are my absolute most favorite flowers!! If they were fuller, I'd have them everywhere in the wedding. Purple tulips come in a close second and every since I've been wedding planning, I've added pink peonies to my list. :)

I've seen them at Wal*Mart the last couple of times I've gone and I've been so tempted to but some for decoration! lol. I just love how much life they seem to have. They are so bright and beautiful. Plus my favorite color is yellow :)
  • We bought each other excurstions for the HM cruise. Other than that I think that we are just going to do dinner this weekend at Outback since I have a gift card.

  • A few weeks ago I asked FI what we were doing for VD, and he said that since he planned it last year (we went to a Japanese steakhouse) that it was my turn this year.  So I've decided to make dinner for him and use our new silverware and china (both were Christmas gifts so it's ok!).  I know he'll love dinner, when we were first dating he had mentioned how he loved 'galumpke' (basically stuffed cabbage rolls) that his grandmother made, and that he hadn't had them since she had died.  A co-worker of mine makes them (though she calls it pigs in blankets, which to me is hotdog wrapped in croissant dough, but I digress...) and she gave me her recipe.  He loved it and was REALLY surprised by it, but I haven't made it since then.  He even mentioned this past weekend that he wanted to try it again (apparently I didn't boil the cabbage leaves long enough).

I can't buy any of the ingredients before Tuesday morning or he'll know, especially if he sees a big head of cabbage in there.  So I'm planning on getting up when he leaves for work and heading out then.

I just haven't decided what kind of side dishes I want to make or what kind of dessert.  I need to pick out a nice wine too.  I can't wait!

Other than that I bought him a card and a travel journal for our honeymoon.  It has maps all over it, which he'll love.

  • I'm having my gallbladder out on Monday so I'm not expecting to but up and about too much on Valentine's Day. I'm hoping I'll feel well enough to eat a real dinner at least, or order a pizza. We can have it in bed with some movies and just relax. Smile

That is what my FI calls them as well. We were having the "real" pig in a blanket one night and when he ased me to add tomatoes to his it threw me off. He was talking his style and I was thinking the real stuff...lol

  • Our Valentine's Day tradition is to buy a frozen pizza with a bottle of champagne :)
