  • 1)  Have you done any tastings yet for your reception food?
I haven't, but I want to as an excuse to eat everything on our menu

    2)  Have you done any tastings yet for your dessert/cake?
    Nope. Haven't booked the baker

    3)  Have you booked your caterer?
Yes. Seastar/John Howie. Great great food!

    4)  What kind of food are you serving at your reception?
steak/salmon combination plate with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies, or vegetarian pasta. There's a salad as appetizer. Also, gougeres are in the breadbowls. If you've been to John Howie before, they are amazing little puff balls of deliciousness.

The cocktail hour food also sounds amazing (crabcakes, meatballs, something vegetarian friendly that I don't recall now, etc)

    5)  Do you prefer buffet or sit-down?
I like the multiple options buffet offers, but I think I prefer sit-down. And my mom felt strongly about that, so we went with sit-down

    6)  Have you ever been to a "cake and punch" reception?
    No

    7)  Have you ever been to a tiered reception (only some of the guests invited to dinner, all guests to after dinner/dancing)?
I have. It was for one of fi's coworkers. He found out last minute that they could have as many people as they wanted if they only came for the dancing part, and we were invited on like, Wednesday for a Saturday wedding. And I had a blast. I loved that we were included, loved the free booze, loved the dancing, it was a super fun evening plan. But it was a local wedding. I would never go to a tiered wedding that I had to travel for.

    8)  What kind of typical wedding food do you HATE?
I've been to very few weddings, so the food has mostly been good, but one wedding I went to served family style meals, and the food was cold :(

    9)  What is your favorite typical wedding food?
    Cake. I love it.

    10)  What kind of food are you serving at your RD?
We want it to be Novilhos. Probably trying to book it this weekend.

    11)  Are you serving anything for a "cocktail hour" before the reception meal?
Yup. See above in the what are you serving question. Also, beer and wine will be available at cocktail hour, but a full bar will be open for the reception

    12)  What kind of plates/silverware/glassware will you be using for your reception?
The kind that comes included in the price for the food!

    13)  What kind of food allergies are you taking into consideration when you plan/pick out your reception food?
Made sure to include good vegetarian options for my guests. I know everyone fairly well, and I'm not familiar with any allergies beyond that.

    14)  Are you serving any type of children's meal?
Nope. The only children we have at the wedding is Fi's younger brother (10? 11?), who eats adult food, and my 2 little cousins, who don't eat anything but bread anyway.

    15)  Is your favor edible?
    Yes :)

    16)  What type of refreshments will you be serving?
Full bar, soda, juices, water, sparkling water for mama, coffee, tea

    17)  Do you plan on doing anything the day after your wedding (Morning-After Brunch, etc)?
The hotel where we have a room block has complimentary breakfast. We'll probably join everyone there if we haven't left for the honeymoon yet.
