Your DJ can rent equipment. The rental cost might even be covered by his insurance.
If he refuses to get something together, make sure you get your money back. You do not need to pay him more, even if his costs are higher. It's the same as if the caterer dropped a tray of food loading the van. Caterer's mistake, cost is on the caterer, not on you.
If you have wedding insurance, call your broker.
