    nice! Where are you going?
Wear something underneath that you're comfortable with the consultant seeing, haha. Some places offer you a strapless bra but I always wore my own.

Yay!  Good luck!  I loved dress shopping!

Some tips are: bring your own strapless bra if you have one, as PP said.  I wore a strapless body suit to all of my appointments, and it made changing in and out of dresses a breeze!

Also bring photos of styles you like...in my case, it helped my consultant find the perfect dress for me!

Ditto on the underwear. I always felt it was kind of gross using the ones from the shops because you know other people wore it before you. If you are having a bunch of people with you try not to get caught up in the moment. It's how you feel in the dress not what everyone else thinks you look in it. In the beginning of my search I went with the moms and most of my BMs and it was stressful because everyone has their own opinions.

Oh and also- before you rule anything out, try it on.  I went in hating lace and sure enough, I hated it when I tried it on.  But, I also went in saying that I did not want a mermaid style at all so I went to Mariella's in Rocky Hill and skipped over that whole closet.  When I went to Bancroft Bridal, the consultant had me try it on and I LOVED it (and bought it). So, it's good to stay focused on what dresses you like but also, give things a try that you wouldn't normally think of.

Be patient, the first trip is all trial and error.  My first trip was at Kleinfeld's and I figured if I couldn't find anything there then I was in real trouble.  I hated everything they pulled in the beginning and was getting upset that there wasn't a dress out there for me.  Eventually the consultant figured out what silhouette looked the best on me and then it was just narrowing down what details I liked.
Oh and if it doesn't have all the details you want don't get it.  I almost got a dress that I wanted to add beading to, it would have cost me another 1K and it's a surprise on how the beading comes out.  I ended up finding my perfect dress, beading and all, at Pronovias for a better price.  My friend almost got a dress on her first visit that she wanted to add lace too and found the perfect dress at another salon a couple of days later.

I second (or third, or fourth?) bringing your own strapless bra. I didn't bring one and had to wear the ones they offer. They were clean, but you could tell they were overworn. They were all loose and did not help my small chested situation very much. Def only bring a couple of people with you! I saw a bride in one of the shops I was at with an entourage and it was like a circus. I think the consultants take you more seriously if only bring a few people. Most importantly, DON'T fall for any high pressure sales tactics. It's a huge decision, and one that you should go home and think about. Happy hunting!!

Ditto to the strapless bra, also comfy shoes, something similar in height to what you might wear on the wedding day is a good thing to bring with you.

Don't be afraid to try on things you don't think you want to, it may surprise you, and try to take pictures if you can, it helps later on to be able to go back and look to see what styes look best on you.

Definately bring shoes that are comfy and easy for you to put on that have a heel.
