NWR/XP: Question from a Nestie in another area

Hi!  I'm from the Seattle nestie board and my H and I are thinking of taking a trip down to CA this summer - he has to be in LA for work, so we'll be starting there.  I've really only been to San Francisco/bay area, Disneyland and San Diego.  So a couple questions...

a) if we are going to be gone for a week, and only wanted to spend a day or so in LA, what should we do?

b) we'd like to spend the rest of the time outside the city, maybe near the beach, quiet/relaxing/romantic... where would you go?

I posted this on TN LA board, but it doesn't seem to be very active.

    I suggest Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Palos Verdes.  Lots of outside activities, biking, hiking (Palos Verdes) walking & our beaches are awesome!
