Share your money-saving wedding deals! What did you "splurge" for your wedding?

I have a ways to go for our wedding since we recently decided to push it back until the end of next year.

I was wondering if anyone has found any awesome money-saving deals for their wedding and taken advantage of it. Also, I was curious to know most of you "splurged" on for your wedding.

FI and I have decided we would "splurge" on catering when we reach that part of the planning process. No money-saving deals yet!

Our concept over all is money saving because we are doing a cocktail reception. The wedding is at 2pm in the afternoon and we'll be serving heavy apps, beer, wine, and a siggy cocktail with cupcakes for dessert! Plus doing it this way allowed us to have the venue we wanted and could afford since there wouldn't have been enough room for a sit down dinner with the amount of guests we have. Our two splurges are my ring, I wanted to add diamonds to my band instead of a plain one, and having my dress altered at the bridal salon. I got it in a sample sale and it's very intricate and I could have taken it somewhere else cheaper but I wanted to take it to the seamstress that has experience with that exact dress. So we did!
  • Groupon and living social have been my life savers. Also, my sorority flower is the carnation so I knew I wanted to incorporate that and that has saved me a lot of $$$

  • FI and I have been able to find some money-saving deals throughout our wedding process so far. We are trying to stick to our budget as much as possible. Our venue did not charge us taxes on our total fee because the facility belongs to a non-profit. Thanks to another knottie, we found out wedding planners and the best part yet....we got 50% off the partial planning package because of their special in May. We got two planners to help us for the amount a DOC charges a day! I think that was awesome!!!

Other than venue, I believe we have also got great deals from our florist and photographer. Flowers are just expensive period...but our florist is very accomodating to our budget. The price of our package is amazing considering the quality of our photographer's work. Her work is worth a lot more than what we are being charged for and the we are getting everything we wanted.

Our biggest splurge will be catering because both of our families love good food and lots of it! FI and I do too so it has to be good and lots of it!
