Any brides waiting for their video from Bob Manning?

Hi Ladies,

I apologize in advance for this partial rant, but I am also looking to see if anyone is in the same situation!

I was wondering if anyone else used Bellevue Productions (Bob Manning) for their wedding videographer and is currently waiting for their video.
 
I knew about his poor reputation when I hired him, but took the risk because his work is good and he spent a great deal of time talking to me prior to my wedding.  Also couldn't beat the discount and I figured I could wait a little extra time for my video.

I am not surprised that it is now 5 months later and I do not have my video, however he has not been in touch in weeks, despite countless messages and emails.  He now has an answering service taking his calls and it is impossible to even leave direct voicemails - this has been the last straw for me.

About 4 weeks ago, he finally gave us a date that we would have our video in our hands (not in the mail, but in our hands, he promised).  Well that date was yesterday, and yesterday came and went without any video or even call from him.  I am especially frustrated because I tried to take the high road with him and not yell at him, so he has no reason to not be returning calls.  I can be aggressive, but know it won't pay off with him.

I'll stop there, but since he has made himself completely unreachable with all calls going to an answering service, I am wondering how any other brides might be handling the situation.

    I'm not sure how true this is or not but I did hear some brides waited 9 months to get their video back last year.

    I can see he hasn't changed his business practices much even though he has had brides file complaints with the Consumer Affairs Division at the AG's office.  I had an interesting experience with Bellevue.  I got my videos and they were beautiful, but it took forever and a day.  If you would like to email me for specifics, my email is michellemcstay at gmail dot com

    I r'vd my documentary version just a month late, but I am still waiting for the montage version from my March wedding.  I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which was closed due to non-response and following closure I filed a complaint with the RI Attorney General's office.  Nothing yet.  I do think he will get it to me and I expect it to be the quality that I have seen with his other videos, but this time wait, and non-response to communication, is unacceptable.  I don't have any great advice for you, but at this point I do wish I had been less patient and had filed complaints earlier.  My parents saw him a few weeks ago at a wedding and he went right up to them to explain that he's working on the video.  So he's still getting business apparently.

    Hi, I am writing you back to tell you that you are not the only one that is in this position with Bob. We got married on February 15,2009, and still have not received my video. It took a month of phone calls for him to finally call me back and that's because I sent him a e-mail to him telling him if he did not call me i was contacting my attorney. He told me that he was working on it and would have to me soon, that was a month ago!!! I e-mailed him about five days ago and told him that if i don't have my video in two weeks that i am taking legal action for sure!! We will see if my video is here in two weeks! I also got him at the discount rate but that doesn't seem to matter because i have met a few brides that are going through the same thing we are. I let it go this long because he has been nice on the phone and nice the day of the wedding and i thought that he was just having a bad year, but i am done being nice because it has got me nowhere. Let me know how you make out.

    Hi,

    I am writing you back first to tell you that I am thrilled that someone has finally put up a blog about this.  Our wedding was April 25, 2009.  I am almost in an identical situation as you, so I appologize ahead of time for my rant.  Bob was very responsive when we booked him and before the wedding.  He was professional when he arrived.  He was even responsive after the wedding.  He even made the effort to call me before our wedding and say that there is a crazy lady out there making up lies about him that he isnt' getting her a final product.  To insure ourselves, we re-signed a new contract and witheld $600 until the final monthage is received.  And now he has been MIA for months.  I assure you that he is a con artist.  I actually ran into him by chance on Labor Day in Newport doing a wedding.  I regret very much not making a scene there, although I was thinking of the other bride, not Bob.  As to the answering service - I do not believe that it is an answering service.  I believe it is his wife and they are both in it together. 

    Our documentary was also a month late.  However, if you think just because it takes a long time the quality is going to be amazing, don't hold your breath.  We got the full documentary version and I was in horror.   The camera work is really shotty.  For our ceremony he stood in the back of the room and when I walked down the aisle he had the back of my head the entire time.  Then during the ceremony he didn't move up and we have very little close-up and basically lots of backs of heads.  In addition, my parents' toasts are not in the DVD at all. 

    The final communication I had from him was in September, telling us that the DVD Montage would be in our hands by October 12th.  Needless to say that hasn't happened.  What is even worse is that I live in DC and it is difficult for me to get to MA or RI to file legal actions.  However, I am determined and I welcome any of you to join me - just email me if you are interested to find out the legal process at inna dot rotenberg at gmail dot com.  Also refer to this site: http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=ocaterminal&L=3&L0=Home&L1=Consumer&L2=Consumer+Legal+Resources&sid=Eoca&b=terminalcontent&f=30_day_demand_letter&csid=Eoca.     Hi, this same thing happened to my sister with Bellevue.  Her wedding was last summer in 2009.  They never got anything they paid for and it is an entire year later.  No one EVER returns any emails or phone calls.  She is devestated.  I think she should sue the company.  I'm engaged now and looking for a videographer.  I thought the camera guy was nice at my sister's and wanted to hire that company for mine. But now NO WAY.  I am very sorry for other brides in this same sad mess as my sister.

    i was checking in on the blog to see if anything had been done about bob manning yet! i also agree as well that you could not hear the best man's speech because of poor sound and also my video was not  crystal clear either. i contacted him when i finally got the video to ask him if he could fix it and he said yes and he promised to have it done a month later but of course that never happened!! i cant even waste anymore of my energy on him so after contacting him again and not getting a response, i stopped emailing and calling. good luck to anyone that hires bob manning!

    TERRIBLE BUSINESS. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. I have had the same experience as others. my wedding was over a year ago and I don't have my products as contracted for- guess who's hiring a lawyer.....

    Does anyone have his contact information??  The phone number and website are no longer in service and I was married 9.5.09 and have no received everything yet.  Its been 2 years. DO NOT USE HIM!!!!!
  • OMG! What a horrible horrible individual. Did the same thing to me, took him almost a year to get my dvd's and the only reason why I got them was because my attorney threatened him so he hand delivered them to her on the date she demanded. This was 2 years ago, but I have never disliked someone so much and wish someone went down as much as Bob Manning. Does anyone know what has happened to that loser? I see he no longer has a website. I really pray he is out of business so he no longer screws someone over. Please keep updated.
