I think I have to let my dreams of Border Grill go because it's just too much money for my 100 guests. Tax and service charges SUCK!

Does anybody have any feedback, wedding reception or other, on the following restaurants:

Serendipity 3 at Caesars
Taqueria Canonita at Venetian
Bayside Buffet at Mandalay Bay

    Sorry about that !That sucks! I hate the tax and service charges too! They really bump up the prices! Hope you figure out something else! Good Luck!

    They do! It went from about $11,000, which was still over our budget, to almost $15,000, which is just about our max for EVERYTHING, transportation, lodging, etc. And that was only for 3 hours.

    Now our goal is a simple dinner, and then party at the Stardust Suite. But a simple dinner is not easy to find!

    We are also considering Firefly and Bahama Breeze, but would like to stay more on the strip. Also, Firefly told us 100 guests is a little tight for them.

    I know I always bang on about it, but check out Little Buddha at the Palms. 3-course menu for $45/head and the same again for a 2 hour premium brand open bar. If you want a good vibe and gorgeous decor then you can't go wrong - and the service has been excellent so far.

    They will also allow you to bring your own cake and centrepieces in. They even waived the cake cutting fees for us after we asked nicely.

    I agree gratuity & taxes suck - I am not American and I always forget to factor those charges in. :( It can easily take a reasonably priced package to well over budget if you're not careful.

    I absolutely love Serendipity3!!  But I have only been to the one in NYC.  Based on my experience there, I would be unsure about what kind of reception dinner they would be able to provide.    Honestly though, the best thing about that restaurant is there desserts - I don't remember the food!  I was so excited to see they had one at Caesars - I will definitely be hitting it up, and I recommend it to you for sure.....but not necessarily for a reception.

    Not sure if that was very helpful, but I couldn't NOT comment on a Serendipity3 post :)

    Have you ruled out Maggiano's?
    At $78 pp for their classic wedding package, even figuring in 20% service and 9% tax (which seams about average) It's only just over $100 pp. That seems to be in your budget.

    @ gribbles-- were you able to do the whole DJ and dancing setup at Little Buddha too, or does the layout of the restaurant not really lend itself to that? Thanks!

    I have the same question as lsvensson!

    We haven't 100% ruled out Maggianos, but it doesn't feel... different enough. We have a Maggianos in a local mall and FI feels like we might as well do everything at home if we were to use Maggianos. We want to take people to a restaurant they've never been to. I think they're a decent option for us, but FI doesn't like it so much, so it's lower on our list.

    There are no private rooms, but there are semi-private dining areas. We cannot have/do not want a DJ but being part of the Buddha-Bar family, their world music is one if its major draw-cards. They have a DJ there playing chill out music -- have a look at the music playing on their website for a feel of the kind of vibe they have:

    The manager told me they can turn the music down while we have our speeches which is really nice of them.

    There are loads of nearby clubs in the Palms for an after party. I think we are going up to Ghostbar for cocktails and the view!

    This is why our choice is a buffet.....we don't really have buffetts where we come from and buffet dining is a widely held perception of Vegas over here! And is very different from the "normal" wedding here with its choice of steak or chicken.

    We are having ours at Studio B.....Pebbs had her reception at Bayside I think!

    ellenalabama also had her reception at Studio B (and yes, it is at the M).  I'd love to check it out too, I've heard some great things about it!

    We are having dinner at Bayside Buffet.  It is $26.99 per person (includes non alcoholic bevs), plus 8.1% tax, 20% grat & $225 facility fee.  The fees are kind of high but we're just going there for dinner and then we're going up to our suite for a cocktail reception.  I think alcohol at the restaurant will be relatively low and then buying our own for the suite will keep costs down.

    I tried it out when I was there in October and the food was great.  There is certainly something for everyone!  Their desserts were also amazing, including their presentation so we're even thinking of skipping on a wedding cake.  We'd hate to pay hundreds of dollars for one and no one eat it because they just had dessert at the buffet!

    @mwkoby- we were thinking the same thing about the cake/dessert dilema. We decided on getting a small sized caked as we didn't want to miss the cake cutting photo!
