RSVP envelope- are lables tacky?

I have been able to print all my envelopes with a beautiful calligraphy font, but the RSVP envelopes just wont go thru the printer. I have horrible handwritting and really cant justify paying for calligraphy. Would it be very tacky to use clear labels on the RSVP envelopes if everything else is very nicely done and printed on the envelopes? Will anyone notice/care?

I am also printing on envelopes to save on cost of caligrapher, but Im not a fan of labels at all, even on rsvp envelopes. Theres no way you can print on them?

What printer problems are you having? I initially had problems printing our RSVP envelopes and they'd go in straight and come out on an angle. Try opening the envelope flap when you feed them in. It took me a while to figure it out but it did do the trick and they printed out perfectly. Mine were from Cards & Pockets if that helps.

Thanks! They are cards and pockets - I have two printers, and both seem to "eat" the envelopes. They come out all bend and covered in ink spots. I will try w/ the flaps open. Do u know if there are any places, like a Kinkos or a Staples, etc that would print on envelopes for us? I really want them to match the rest of the envelopes, but the little suckers are impossible haha. Thanks again!

The RSVP envelopes are all addressed to you right? Could you order a custom return address stamp and just stamp them all? I got ours off of Etsy and use it all the time.

I hate labels in any situation. I was going to say take them to a printer. I took mine to someone in Montclair. He printed our whole wedding invitation suite (invite, rsvp, reception card, outer envelope return address and response envelope) for $375 so I can't imagine the cost of printing the envelopes would be too high. That was also for thermography so flat print would be a lot less. If you want to get in touch with him, his name was Mike from The Printer's Shop. He was really nice and great to work with. I'm not a graphic designer and had no idea how the whole printing thing worked and he was very patient with me.

Wow, I never thought of the flap open idea - I thought I was going to have to carefully tape each envelope to a regular piece of paper to get them to go through. The first one I tried by itself got jammed in the printer. I will have to try the flap open tip!

I wouldn't call labels tacky, but I'd say they don't lend to an elegant look. I think labels are fine for STDs, shower invites and thank yous, but not for any portion of the wedding invitations.

I had printer issues as well, and I bought a new one that was able to print to envelopes of varying sizes. It's a Canon Pixma MX870, and I got it for $160 at Staples. I needed a new printer, anyway.

37 Butter Knives- thats the new printer I just bought for my invites and other stuff- how did u get the RSVPs to work w/ it? It sucks them it, but them destroys

A custom stamp would be nice (they have ones that you can make a little more fancy). The person who made our invitations got one for us.

Just a side note though. If you have a metallic finished RSVP envelope don't get a stamp. We originally had a metallic envelope and we stamped them all and found out the ink won't dry with that kind of finish. The ink will smudge everywhere (even if you let them dry for a week, we can still smudge the ink and its been almost 2 months since we did the invites). We ended up having to get a flat colored envelope to use our stamp.

I think things look good when they all match nicely but if it is a big PIA then I don't think it is a huge issue for you to do labels.

What about wrap around labels? I bought mine from an ETSY seller and I am using those for my RSVP's and Invites. I love them!
