End of August vs. Mid Oct

Hi - we are thinking of getting married in Vermont. Any advice on whether end of August vs. mid Oct is better? We're leaning more towards Oct, because of the foliage, but not sure if it's going to be too cold. The place we like, The Hermitage, does not have Sept available. Also, looking for any feedback on The Hermitage. Thanks!

If you're planning an outdoor wedding then you may want to look at August - Mid-October in Vermont can be cold!  Check out the weather tracker on weather.com - it will show you the weather on a certain date or number of dates for the past few years, that way you can see the trends and make an informed decision.  http://www.weather.com/activities/events/weddings/

    Good luck with your planning!

Ditto the above post.  If you are going for indoors I'd vote October though.
We're currently on a 15 month trip around the world!

Ditto PP. We got married outdoors the last weekend in September, and the weather was perfect, but a week later, it was freezing. The foliage is beautiful though. If your wedding will be indoors, I would definitely recommend October---you'll get some amazing photos outdoors. I'm kind of a risk taker, though, so I'd probably get married outdoors in October too :) Several of our friends have, and the weddings have been beautiful. HTH!

Thank you so much for the advice! Maybe ceremony outdoors, reception indoors...something to think about it.
