One thing after another.

I had botched implants done 8 years ago  - turned into 3 surgeries over a period of 2 years. Now they are screwed up again. They have shifted significantly over the past year and its unsightly as well as difficult to wear certain things. I have ignored this, as I do not want another surgery right now. I cannot afford to have them redone right now, I just had major surgery 2 months ago, I dont have time to take off of work AND wedding is 3 months away. Not to mention that my FI doesnt want me getting them redone. Woke up yesterday with severe breast pain (in just one)...today its much worse and slightly swollen. I haven't told anyone because FI will think I'm using this as an excuse to get them redone and my family will strongly urge me to IMMEDIATELY get them redone. I dont know what to do. I'm in pain...my boobs look like a joke...FI thinks otherwise, family thinks the "shifting" is reason for immediate surgery. Thats all. Just had to get that out.

Why havnt you just gotten them out if theyve given you THIS much trouble??
  • Nebb - I tried, but the surgeon said that since I went from a AA cup to a C cup I would have too much extra skin if I removed them. Might get a 2nd opinion though.
  • I don't know anything about boob jobs, but pain that doesn't go away is usually a cause for concern no matter where it is.  If it doesn't get better, I'd go to a doctor. Better to get it checked now than have something go wrong even closer to your wedding!
  • I would say to find another surgeon and get a second opinion.  Maybe he messed up the first time and is just trying to cover for his mistakes.  My secretary had hers done a few months ago and ended up with one that had a leaking valve and the surgery ended up being free (or she got additional money) but something because the problem wasn't her fault.
  • I'd be calling a second surgeon, like yesterday.  Maybe you can get them replaced with smaller ones.
  • The implants are still in?
I would go to the doctor right away. What were they using 8 years ago? Silicone or saline?
    image
  • I'd go to the doc if you're experiencing pain. That's not good, especially with past problems.

And seriously, if your FI gets all pissy and tries to accuse you of getting them redone due to pain, then he kind of sucks. He should be concerned with your health, not how your boobs look.
  • Your health is the most important thing. Please see a doctor ASAP and have this taken care of.

    I'll co-sign this.  Yikes!

  • Ya, if this pain (its only been 2 days) doesnt go away very soon I will schedule an appointment w/ a different surgeon. Definitely would never go back to this one.

They used saline - silicone was still off the market.
  • Definitely go see a doctor about the pain and get a second opinion about all the problems you've had with the first doctor and the shifting.  I'm no doctor but I'm surprised they wouldn't be able to just remove the extra skin if needed. People do breast reductions all the time and I would think they would have the same problem.

Tell your Fi this: Going to get the pain checked out does not mean you are getting them fixed again. If the doctor says they need to be fixed due to a medical emergency that might have more weight in his mind than if he thinks you just want to look prettier.
  • I agree- see a dr. and find someone great for a second opinion, as well!!
  • I thought you needed to get implants re-done every 10 years or so?

If they bother you that much, I would just take them out.  Who cares what they look like.  Your health is the most important thing.

Yeah, you can definitely have the excess skin removed, though. That's very common.

I would get checked out immediately for the pain you're having, and then decide what to do after that.

</div><div>Extra skin can be removed.  I had a reduction nearly thirty years ago, went from a DD+ (they didn't have anything after that back then) to a B.  If that wasn't extra skin, I don't know what else that could be.

  • Go to doctor asap before things get worse
  • Forgive me because I don't know much about this, but if the implants were botched this badly, couldn't you sue the doctor?  I mean, I get that this doesn't help your current problem, and for all I know you've probably already taken care of that, but yeah.

You basically sign your life away when having surgery. He is one of the top docs here in AZ and re-did my surgeries for free. The problem (supposedly) is that when I very first got them done, I was severely malnourished and my connective tissues would not hold. He said it was like trying to sew spaghetti noodles together and had to create a synthetic pocket to ultimately hold them in place. Seems as though that hasnt even worked! If I can just get them removed and have my natural breasts back, thats what I'm opting for. Sounds to me as though removing excess skin shouldnt be an issue from what many of you are saying.
  • Well at least he re-did them for free.  But I have a hard time believing he's one of the top plastic surgeons in AZ (not challenging what you're saying, but really wondering how that even came to be) if he performed a surgery that had such a small chance of being successful.

I'm sorry you're going through all this, I'd get it checked out ASAP, who cares what your FI thinks.

  • Thanks, and I will get it checked out if pain continues. It is sort of surprising that a "top doc" would not be able to fix this - but thats why a 2nd opinion is in store.

He shouldn't have done your surgery to begin with if that was the case. It's like he did it knowing that there was a 90% chance it would fail. What a sucky MD. Regardless, he wouldn't be touching me again, to take them out or to fix them.

I thought you were talking about dental implants at first, and I coulldn't figure out the connection between your teeth shifting (which I figured dental implants might do) and your boob. I get it now. Someone get me a drink, please?

    *headdesk*

Anyway, if you were that malnourished, he should have seen that he moment he looked at you, if not when he opened you up. I am calling BS on him.

Boob and teeth go hand in hand! I agree - he should have turned me down within seconds of me walking in for a consultation.
