Cedar Grove Tchoupitoulas Plantation Brides...

Where did you reserve blocks of hotel rooms? We don't have alot of OOT guests, so we won't need many rooms.  I'm just not too familiar with which nice hotels are nearby.

Also, where did you/will you get ready?  I have always wanted to get dressed in a FQ hotel and take some pics in the hotel's courtyard, but now I'm wondering it will be an inconvenience to have to travel from the FQ on the wedding day.  Are there any hotels nearby that have really nice suites?

We are staying at the Hampton Inn and Suites. It's in Harahan right across the Huey P Bridge. We didn't need very many rooms either and also didn't want to travel back and forth from the French Quarter. I wouldn't say that they have "really" nice suites but they are clean, large enough, and I've always been very happy with my stays at Hampton Inns. The hotel lobby is nice enough to take some pictures in. I actually went before making my room block and asked to see the biggest room they had, just to get an idea! The rates they gave us are $89 for standard rooms and $139 for suites.
Jill at Cedar Grove actually recommended it to us, she said she knows a few of her brides that have stayed there and been happy.

I'm not getting married there, but I live about a mile away, so I'm familiar with it. I would almost stay in the FQ and just drive over. It probably won't take anymore time than getting over the Huey, especially with all that construction going on. The Hampton's are nice hotels, so that wouldn't be a bad idea, but there is something special about pictures in the FQ.

I hear ya, mags0607.  I'm still kinda attached to the idea of having our room in the FQ.  I'm thinking that we may get a block of rooms in the FQ and at the Hampton.  That way, our guests will have a couple of options.  And we can stay in the quarter.
