Budget Wedding

Fellow Brides and Brides to be,
I'm getting married December 7, 2013.  Can anyone tell me any venues that you think that I would be able to get by paying $5,000-6,000 for venue space, food and beverage?

Thank-you,
Rebecca

Re: Budget Wedding

  • how many guests are you wanting to feed?
  • well im looking for max of 150....honestly im thinking its almost going to be impossible.. i have a champage taste on beer budget lol
  • Try Ivy Hills Country Club. It's gorgeous and they have all kinda of pricing. We took one of their menus and twaeked it to get to our ideal price. Also, I'm thinking that due to time of year, they may be willing to waive any kind of rental space fee. The good thing about them is all their packages include linens, dinnerware, table numbers, centerpiece mirrors on tables, etc. They don't nickel & dime for those tiny extras. Judy Patrick is her name. You're looking at $43-45 per head at 150 people, plus 18% gratuity, and they can work with you pricing.

  • Look at FOP event center run by all things catered. The rental fee is around $700 ten based on what food you pick out you can go as low as $10 a head.
  • The Bell Event Centre.

  • Stricker's Grove Hall. It's not the prettiest place - but I attended a wedding here a few years ago - and it was nice enough. Lots of fun with a jammin' DJ.

You'll get a lot more bang of for your buck if you can shrink your guest list down though. Sure - we could have invited 150 people - but we made our guest list less than seventy-five so we could have the type of venue we wanted and not go bankrupt.

  •  We are going with The Madison in Covington.  They offer a great discount for afternoon receptions.  We are having ours on a Saturday in September, with 150 guests and it's within your budget. It includes all food and beverage.  Honestly, they take care of everything and I highly recommend working with Amy Oberjohn, she's so nice and helpful.
  • Ivy Hills is gorgeous, but it will get expensive with that many people. Have you looked into Receptions? From what I hear they are pretty affordable.

Im going to check out receptions and the element soon!
  • Yes, Receptions is affordable! One of my friends got married there last July & had a totaly of about 180 guests. She got venue space, food, & alcohol for right around $5,000. I would check them out! Also, I've heard good things about Tori's Station (never checked it out myself though)! GL :)

  • I had mine at Dearborn Country Club which is part of Receptions.  Ours was an afternoon wedding with less people, but I think my sister got a quote for an evening wedding of about 150 people for under $4000 for a complete package.

  • The Madison also offers a discount on Fridays, which we are doing (150 guests too). I agree that Receptions is super affordable as well. We probably would have went with them but we needed a ceremony space and it would have been in the same room as the reception and we didn't like that. The Benchmark in Covington is also budget friendly.
  • If you're open to Northern Kentucky places, there's a place called The Carriage House down in Burlington (near Florence) which is a really cool place- that's where we are getting married and they will totally work with you on prices.  You can bring whatever caterer in you want, so you can easily control the price that way too.

Also, I'm not sure what their current rates are, but the Nathaniel Green Lodge on the West Side of Cincinnati is a great place to work with and they were very flexible with budgets and stuff when my friend got married there a couple years ago- can't say enough nice things about them.

    Good Luck!

  • receptions offers off season pricing for your december wedding. Elements will not offer any kind of discount for off season dates. but you can ask any of the places that you are looking at if they offer off season pricing or discounts. Use your date to your advantage. I've been to a wedding at the carrige house and it is a very unique space filled with lots of old tools hanging from the rafters. It gave guest something to talk about. good luck.

  • There are a bunch of places around here were you can stay in that budget. We are trying to stay with 5000 max.
We are torn between Benham's Grove in Centerville (where you would have to find your own catering) and the Beckett Ridge Country Club in West Chester, OH. They work with Destinys Catering and their food is amazing. We got a quote from them for around $3000, including ceremony, reception, 2 entree buffet including mashed potato bar. They decorate for you and everything and they are super helpful. But we are getting married on a weekday, so it is a little cheaper.
Receptions in Fairfield (Tori's Station) is reasonable, too.
Or Heatherwoods Golf Club in Springboro, I haven't been there ye, but emailed back and forth with them and they seem reasonable.
    Getting hitched! :) {May 30th 2013}
  • I would try the Pavilliion in MT. Airy Forest.  It's a really nice venue and reasonable.
  • The Cargnegie in Covington or Leapin' Lizard. You can chose your own caterer and the alcohol is cheap.

Try a place that lets you bring your own alcohol. Buy it a Cork and Bottle, they will deliver and you can return anything unopened. Then just hire a few bartenders. Ideas:
Memorial Hall next to Music Call and St. Elizabeths in Norwood.
