Patriot Hill brides...

I'm trying to work out some details and I feel like I'm going in circles, so I'm curious to know what you did...

- How did you and your bridal party get to Patriot Hills?
- Were you able to hire a driver/vehicle that IS allowed on the Palisades?
- Where did you take pictures before the wedding?

Thanks!!!
Shari

We were married in a church so we took our limos from the church to the reception hall. I have a feeling that isn't really the answer you're looking for. Are you taking photos beforehand? If you did, you could have limos bring you from wherever you're getting ready to the photo site, then to Patriot Hills.

Small limos (like regular stretch Lincolns) are allowed on the PIP, but larger limos are not. That said, our photog convinced the limo driver to take the PIP without issue. I would definitely discuss it with the limo drivers first though, or allow for the time it takes going the long way.

Our photos were taken in Piermont at a few sites our photographer is familiar with along the water. It was about 10 minutes (via the Palisades of course) from the Comfort Inn in Nanuet, where we got ready. Talk to your photographer and see what he/she recommends.

And I know how you feel stressing about the transportation. It was one of the few things that kept me up at night for weeks. Here was our transportation plan:
    - everyone got ready at the hotel in different suites
    - 2 limos arrive at hotel - 1 for bride and bridesmaids, 1 for the guys
    - both limos drive to photo location
    - small limo goes back to hotel to pick up dates of the wedding party and our parents. Originally, we were going to take some photos with our parents in Piermont, but we changed locations and limo driver 2 couldn't find us right away, so we took parent photos at the church
    - 2 limos meet up, bride goes with her family in one, groom, his parents, and all bridal party in the other and we leave for the church
    - small limo leaves after dropping us off at church, larger limo takes everyone to reception
    - shuttle bus takes everyone back to the hotel, where we started many hours earlier

We had ceremony and reception at PH.  The girls all met at the hotel to get dressed (I did hair and makeup at hotel and put on dress at PH).  We (my family and BMs) drove to PH and knew we could always leave cars overnight if necessary.  ILs decided they did not want to do this so they left a car at the hotel and took a limo to PH with the GM.  We had West Point Tours (PH will give you a credit to your bill for part of the fee) bring our guests from the hotel and everyone was able to take that back at the end of the night.  We actually didn't end up leaving any cars based on who had driven.  We took our pictures before the ceremony at PH.

Thanks girls, I appreciate the input! I am also staying at the Comfort Inn. My FI and I decided against limos to save money, but I wanted to get a bus or shuttle for all the guests... now it turns out a lot of people are staying at different hotels that they have points with, so I don't know if it pays to get a shuttle
Besides, it seems that a shuttle would not be allowed on the Palisades, and I do not want to put my guests on a bus for 40 mins. each day. I'm not sure if that is actually the amount of time. But I've heard that getting from the hotel to Patriot Hills without using the PIP, it could be 40 mins or more. I would hate to be on a bus for that long so I won't do it to other people.

Okay, so our plan is to take pics before the wedding (first look photos and photos with entire bridal party) and then family pics during coctail hour. So then I started stressing because I'm not sure if we're doing it at PH or elsewhere. (Can you suggest places?) My photog is from PA so I'm not sure how familiar with the area she is. I will ask though. But now, for me and my BM (8 of us) and my FI and his groomsmen (7 of them) we would need two vans/shuttles. I can't make people drive from the hotel to a photo site then to patriot hills. I wouldn't want them to do all that driving, plus their significant others will need to get to Patriot Hills for the wedding. I just can't come with a plan for how this will work. Everything is falling into place except for this, and the timing of prewedding events... I have no idea how much time to allow for pictures.

Kristin - What kind of shuttle did you take back to the hotel? Did the hotel use theirs? They told me they would not. If you rented one, did it go on the PIP?

Okay. I think I'm done venting for today   :)

I believe we took 9W.  It wasn't super convenient but it wasn't too bad either.  We only had one couple that chose to stay at a different hotel so the bus was pretty full on the way back (bc it now had us, the bridal party, and my ILs in addition to the guests).  I thought it worked out well.

I didn't have my reception at Patriot Hills, but we had our reception at a golf course and the grounds were beautiful! Most golf courses have great areas for pictures and I'm sure that your contact at PH will have some ideas for on the premises and might also know of some photo-op areas nearby if your photog doesn't.

GL! Hope you get the transportation worked out!

Argh, I just saw this now and theknot ate my first reply.

We used West Point Tours for the shuttle because PH offers a discount if you use them. We couldn't take the PIP because it's a bus, but it wasn't an issue. We even took the bus back at the end of the night and didn't find it to be too long of a ride.

As far as photo locations, PH has some gorgeous spots, or try asking Gina or Trish to recommend another place in the area, I'm sure they would know.
