reception name cards

hello everyone.... i have 2 weeks left before big day and trying to get all the loose ends tied up. does anyone know of any places (online vs actual print shops) that will print out names on the place cards at a cheaper/reasonable price or do most of you guys go with calligrapher vs handwriting your own (even though I don't have very nice handwriting).

Re: reception name cards

  • I don't know of any place, but you could go the route of printing out each table and their guests on a half piece of nice scrapbook paper and then framing each sheet and putting it on an entry table. You can make it look nice in a short amount of time.

    Good luck!
  • I used an Etsy seller.  I had about 3 weeks though (although it didn't take very long and you could probably find someone).
  • They sell placecards that you can print at home, just pick a nice font. I have used those for work events before. the ones I got were from target i think. michaels or hobby lobby should have them in their wedding section.
  • I didn't do place cards, but I used a shop called Marrygrams on Etsy for "Reserved" signs for some of the tables. They turned out really well and she had a very fast turnaround time. (I think I ordered them the week before the wedding). She basically does what seems to be a print that looks like calligraphy.

I'm not sure how expensive it would be, but if you're lazy like me (or super busy since you're in the last few weeks) it's probably worth asking!

  • I think you can buy little folded placecards at Office Depot and make them yourself if you're pressed for time.  The girl who did my invitations did some for me overnight, but that was an emergency "Help, the Etsy vendor screwed these up and now I need new ones" thing.

  • Also, I've seen people use blank luggage tags (no idea where you'd get them totally blank) and just pin them to a bulletin board -- very cute!

The sell them at Hobby Lobby. :)
  • I just bought some at Michaels put a stamp on them and did them by hand. Call some friends over and enjoy some wine! You could also use small stickers if you want to decorate them.
  • Dear,  I think you can do them yourself.  My girl did our invitations overnight with her gorgeous wedding dresses, but that was an emergency "Help, the Etsy vendor screwed these up and now I need new ones" thing.
  • I used Paper Planet in Fort Worth.

I don't know about cost comparison, but I gave up on trying to make time to do them myself. I only had 2 weeks left (or less) when I gave up on my doing them.

They were all correct and looked fantastic!
