Historic Dubsdread Ballroom Food bad?

I'm sold on this place for the value.. but some co-workers have mentioned that the food on the catering side (not their restaurant) just isn't that great, specifically a Chicken Marsala dish.

Anyone know anything about the food here? Thanks!

It's average wedding food - some is good, some is bad, none is really great.  We're getting married there for the value as well.  Talk to Cathie about attending a tasting before you give the deposit to see if it's a deal breaker for you.

Yes my mom had eaten there in the past a couple times and wasn't impressed with the food. Since we have such foodies on both sides of our family that is a huge deal breaker for us.

They were in our top 3 and even though the food prices are very reasonable I thought the bar prices were quite high. They only do a consumption based bar instead of a per person price and the prices were around $6-$7 per drink. By using a caterering company where I could supply my own liquor I'm saving at least $3,000 on what I was quoted. Something to think about, I loved the look of the building though...

I have had only amazing food at Dubsdread. We've eaten in the restaurant several times (restaurant food and catering come from the same kitchen) and we went to a tasting at the end of september. Cathie and her staff and the whole atmosphere of the location totally sold me on the venue. We tasted the food and even more confident of our choice. :-) caveat- we've had all the appetizers, pastas, and red meats. Haven't tasted a chicken dish yet so i'll be sure to do that at the next tasting we go to... Becky

I am an Orlando Wedding DJ and have eaten at hundreds of wedding venues in Central Florida and I have to say that Dubsdread has amazing quality dishes. Every time that I have eaten there it has been amazing. Prime Rib is my favorite.

We went to a tasting there because we were considering the location.  We thought the food was great (very tasty and wide variety) and really enjoyed talking with the staff (lots of good ideas and helpful).  We were really torn but ultimately went with The Summerlin House.  We are happy with our choice, but Dubs is still great!
