Weirdest thing your ILs have ever said to you?

What's the weirdest thing your IL's have tried to talk to you about or said to you?

Haha FMIL has commented on my looks a few times. A few months ago I put on a few pounds (it was in the middle of a cold winter!) and she said that my FI and I looked like we gained some weight! I knew she didn't mean to offend me or anything, but I always thought that was a wierd thing to say to me because any other person might have taken it the wrong way! Lol

Mine told her girlfriend (right in front of me) that I don't speak Gujarati (I do but am nervous to speak around her, so I speak in English) and that it is probably because my parents don't speak it (they read, write, and speak it). She piped in after her friend commanded me to speak in Gujarati and I thought she'd tell them that I can speak just fine and choose not to! Boy was I wrong! Lol I think she said it without malice but it stung!

My sister in law to be takes the cake. She's younger and VERY limited with her understanding of the world. Every time I talk to her it's about how bad Muslims are and how they believe this or the Quran says that. I am well read on the Quran (I own two copies as well as other religious texts) and always correct her. She has this idea about people before she meets them and stereotypes culture groups and gays and lesbians. This is hard for me as I am an extremely liberal, open-minded, modern woman. I always correct her and if I don't my boyfriend does.

His older sister told me that our kids wouldn't marry any BMW's - Black, Muslim, White - I told her that I was raised better than that and have absolutely no issue!

My Aunt told me that shortly after she got married my Grandfather told her she better not be on birth control because he disagreed with it - I love my grandfather to bits but JESUS that's TMI!

My ILs are kind of eccentric, so they have some weird family conversations.  Some that come to mind:

On their first trip to the US, second day here, FIL told me I was driving south and to turn around.  I grew up here, so I guess I know where north is.  Not to mention, what with being on a coast there's that tell-tale ocean on one side.

MIL said that SIL should marry a white guy because a white spouse will do all the work at home (like I do).  DH suggested there might be a gender connection.

We were in the Kolkata airport when MIL saw an attractive and flirtatious male flight attendant.  She told me to go ask him if he would marry SIL.  I said I thought the serious-looking business man opposite us was a better option.  MIL went and sat RIGHT behind him and listened in on his skype call to his mom.

SIL told me that she wants to marry an orphan because she doesn't want a MIL!  She also told me that if DH marries again, the family might not have as big a wedding as ours.  She also makes comments on groups (mostly other types of Indians) a lot.
