Videographer Budget....

Hi all! New to the boards and super excited to begin planning. I am looking at the budgeter tool and the allotment for the videographer is the same as the photographer! Does anyone actually watch wedding videos anymore? For some reason I don't have an inner desire to have a video made. Will i regret it? Thanks ladies! Can't wait to get to know ya more!

    We didn't have a professional video done but some of our guests shot their own. I watch them all. the. time!

    If you can afford one, I'd do it!

    Thanks Kathy! Im leaning towards just asking a close friend monitor a camera that is set up before hand. Just to film the ceremony.

    You might want to invest a bit of time and familiarize yourself with professional videography.  At that point you might re-prioritize your feelings towards the subject. It isn’t for everybody.  Surveys have shown that the value of videography increases exponentially after the wedding. Many brides surveyed who didn’t want videography or had a friend or amateur shoot it, had regrets after the wedding and said they would have chosen differently if they could have their time over. It also depends on your – some clients watch their videos or at least their highlights versions regularly – some carry a short version on their cell phones, iPODs, etc. and share it with friends at every opportunity.  Others just put them away and don’t look at them again. However, that might change some day in the future – they might enjoy sharing the video with their kids or even when their daughter is planning her wedding. For those clients, only then the real value of the video might be realized.  Good luck!  P.S.  I am a successful full-time videographer in the DC area and after hundreds of events; I feel I am qualified to offer this advice
