Jade with off white and lilac accents... opinions requested

My bridesmaids dresses have been ordered, in Jade. I am thinking for accent colours off white will work (flowers, linens, etc) and a lilac purple accent (flowers only). Below is a picture of the actual dress but in purple. The picture below that is the colour jade that the dresses will be.  I was wondering what colour(s) I should focus on for the invitations (stick with off white base with Jade accents), cake (off white cake with Jade and Lilac accents like ribbons and flowers) and reception tables (off white table cloth, jade linens). My centerpieces are a dark brown/black tray with tan/brown stones with three clear votive candle holders, should I use an off white candle or find a jade coloured one? Any suggestions would be great. Oh, one more thing, the men are wearing kilts, see tartan below.

  • I love the colours and your ideas.  I would use off-white candles - perhaps get some purple flowers or jade leaves to add to the centerpieces, but I wouldn't do coloured candles, personally.

Sounds like you've got a pretty clear vision already... love the colour combination!

invitations - I like a coloured pocketfold (perhaps jade) with a white invitation card inside with your accent colours, but go to a paper store or order some colour samples (online paper suppliers will send you free or cheap samples) and hold them up next to eachother - it's the best way to see what looks good and what fits your vision.

candles - I like white (or off-white) candles.  The coloured ones are harder to find, cost more, and sometimes seem a bit cheesy.  The white candles will stand out better against the brown stones too I think.  You could wrap jade ribbons around the bottom of the candle holders if you wanted a bit of colour in them.

Overall - don't worry too much about the white/off-white combination.  I had an ivory dress, and thought I wanted off-white throughout the reception hall but when we went to see the linens, the white-white looked way more crisp and clean than the off-white tablecloths.  Popped out more against our colours.  I think with jade the white-white might be better for you.  But again, once you find a decorator/linen supplier you can hold the colours up against each other, bring a sample centerpiece, see how it all looks together.
  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I am meeting with my coordinator on Feb 3rd to discuss decor and linens. I love the pockerfold being the jade and the invitations white. I also appreciate your opinions on the colour of the candle.
    Thanks a bunch ladies :)
