Re: Question of the day

  • I'm using a DJ because I have a family member in the business.  Also, I am Haitian American and I knew it would be important to have a mix of music that included Haitian/Caribbean hits in addition to the hits and traditional songs from this country that my fiance's family would recognize.

  • This is probably the first thing I thought about when planning.  I'm a full time musician, so I understand the importance of live music, but all the wedding bands that I really like (I'm picky) were crazy expensive.

So I made a compromise: My Berklee professor, who is my favorite vocalist, will perform with a piano player (of her choice) for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and first dance song.  Then we're having a DJ for the reception.  This way I still get to have the live music that I want without the crazy price tag!

  • We're having a DJ.  It's cheaper & we need to be able to hear both Britney Spears & Bruce Springsteen at our wedding Laughing

  • We are having a DJ, but I have also asked a friend to sing during our ceremony and possibly a friend play the guitar as I walk down the aisle.
  • We are doing live music at our ceremony and cocktail hour. And a DJ at our reception for 3 reasons.

    1. We are having a pretty small wedding and I feel that bands are better for larger groups.
    2. We want a large variety of music and we want the songs to sound like the original.
    3. DJs are less expensive.
