Caterers

So the place I think we are having our wedding at is Groveland Fairways in Groveland, MA they gave us the name of 3 caterers, Vinwood, Affairs Catering, and Cloverleaf.  We have 150 guests and are trying to keep the food to $10,000 if not less, I would like to keep it closer to $7,500 but I'm not sure I can do that. Has anyone heard any good or bad things about these caterers?  I also have quite a few food allergies/specialities that I am worried about.  I got price ranges and it seems that Affairs Catering and Cloverleaf are around $30-35 pp versus Vinwood at $50-55.  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm having my wedding at Groveland Fairways too.  Isn't it nice?  I love how light and airy the ballroom feels.

Cloverleaf is the least expensive option - the prices the proprietor lists actually already include tax and service charge, which make a big difference.  We haven't met with her yet though, so I can't really tell you much more than that.  I saw a couple of positive opinions when I Googled them, but they don't seem to have a big web presence.  I'll have to make sure to write a review of them after the wedding.

We are still on the fence with Bass Rocks in Gloucester, but I think this will be a bit more affordable.  Thank you for the information about the tax and service charge being included, I totally missed that part.  Did you talk to either of the other two?

My friend is using Cloverleat at her venue (she had a choice of the same 3) and she went with Cloverleaf because of the price point, the meeting she had with the lead person at Cloverleaf went the best of the 3, and because she has some specific food requests that they said they can completely handle.  I'm not sure if it's picky eaters or allergies, but she said Cloverleaf was not fazed by her requests.
Just as a heads up: I work with catering all the time in my job, and as long as the chef isn't suprised day of the event with a special request, they should be able to handle food allergies.  I have a wicked dairy allergy, and at the events I work, chef always makes sure I have an entree I can eat.  We just try not to surprise him with the gluten/dairy allergic guest who's also vegetarian at the last minute.

I had emailed a bunch of questions to both Affairs and Cloverleaf, but we decided to go with Cloverleaf pretty much just due to price.

I am getting married at GF and chose Cloverleaf because they were the only one of the three caterers available on my date.  However, Penny offered a great price point and has been great to work with.  She hosted a tasting evening a couple of months ago for all her 2011-2012 couples, and the food was awesome.  Feel free to PM me if you want more specific details.

I am not sure if you know this or not, but GF is hosting a bridal show on 6/2 from 6pm to 9pm.  My wedding is only three weeks later and everything will be planned, but I am going just to see the venue and to be able to walk around without worrying about getting in the way of the golfers.  I believe that there is a link to pre-register for the shpw on the website.

Thanks for the info on the bridal show! Any idea if any vendors will be there?  I'm the first in my circle of friends to be getting married so this is all new to me.  I'm going to try and get some time off from work to attend but I'm not sure if I can yet or not.

I assume there will be vendors there.  I went to one bridal show when I first got engaged, and the point was pretty much to meet the vendors who were there and make contacts.  I am the last person to get married amongst my friends and family, so I've had lots of support.  Please feel free to PM if you need advice, and let me know if you'll be attending the show so I can say hello :)

Thank so much, I am going to talk to the lady at work today about time off, my fiance (also Brian) works up that way so its no problem for him.  I will probably be there unless for some reason we change our minds this weekend and go with a differet venue.  I sent you a PM last night.  Thanks for all the advice!!
