All Inclusive Honeymoon in the U.S.?

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are getting married at the end of February and are looking to take our honeymoon in mid-March, or during the summer. He mentioned wanting to do something all inclusive, but I'm not wanting to go out of the country. We live in Colorado, so we get to see a lot of the mountains, but would love to go to a beachy location. Are their All Inclusive honeymoon packages in the U.S?

They do not exist in the USA excet for a couple of Club Meds.
You can find hotels that include some things (breakfast or dinner vouchers) but not true AI's.
  • My only suggestion would be U.S. Virgin Islands - since they are a US territory you do not need a passport and they use the American dollar.  There are a couple of AIs there.  FI and I looked into going, but it was out of our budget unfortunately.

  • Is there any particular reason why you don't want to travel outside of the US?  I'm not trying to be snarky, but I'm genuinely curious.  Have you ever left the States?  Would you mind sharing your reason?
  • We both have traveled a little outside of the U.S. (Canada for both us, the Bahamas for me).
I'm not against going out of the U.S. but neirther of us have passports (weren't required when we went), and I'm not sure we have the funds for a super expensive airline ticket.
If the right deal came along, I'd be fine with going outside the country.

  • Puerto Rico is not worth an AI and the AIs in the US Virgin Islands provide very few inclusions and minimal meals and maybe some alcohol. I did a lot of research because I wanted an AI. I found a Club Med and another, more private AI in the Florida Keys but both cost 3 times as much as the Caribbean.

But there is an AI in the Poconos, PA ran by Caesar's. There are three different resorts and they offer food, entertainment and activities. All for just a little more than the Caribbeam. I seriously considered this but since I am getting married next week we ould be there in the winter and their winter inclusions didn't compare to their summer ones. The best part of what I read and reviewed is that these are all honeymoon suites with an oversized jacuzzi tub, some with private pools. They're supposed to give the ultimate in HM privacy.

  • This place is AI in Hawaii: http://www.konavillage.com/

I will say however that depending on where you want to go, going international isn't necessarily more expensive that going some places in the US. Mexico, for example, is often not an expensive flight and can be less expensive for hotels and food. Get a passport and explore the world a little :)
  • In that case, I'd recommend an AI on the Maya Riviera in Mexico.  That's where you're going to get the biggest bank for your buck, even with factoring in the passport costs.

There are plenty of packages that include flights - check out Expedia to search and use TripAdvisor to see reviews of particular hotels.

    Good luck ;)

Never assume the flight is expensive!  We have routinely only spent $600 a piece to fly back to the US from Europe. Considering that's the cost of many continental US flights, I'd say that's a great deal.
  • I agree with PP on the flights assumption.

Our flights R/T to Cancun from Chicago were $297each...we're now looking at flights to FL at the same time next year and they're $365 each!

Kona Village isn't a true AI, it's "mostly inclusive" because it doesn't include alcohol. Your meals are included, but not drinks. Also, there are no tv's clocks, or radios in any of the rooms. Our room on our HM was like this as well and it was great, we were able to completely check out of every day life. We had a mini-dvd player with us that we had used on the plane and sometimes used it to pop in a movie, but we definitely didn't miss all the technology.

Ditto emilyinchile, I would highly recommend getting passport! I can't imagine not exploring this beautiful planet, and I honestly think flying to the Caribbean or Mexico and staying at an AI is much cheaper than going somewhere in the US because you're not spending a ton of money while you're there on food, drinks, and activities. All that adds up really quick. You could also look into cruises, where all your meals and on-board activites are included and you get to see a bunch of new islands all in one vacation. HTH!
  • Club Med has a new AI resort in Florida. However, food and drinks are usually cheaper in other countries. Their resort in Florida is one of their most expensive! I would check out www.applevacations.com, it has hundreds of AI resorts and they usually have some pretty great deals. I have traveled through them once before to go to Dominican Republic, my parents use them all the time.

  • not true about the USVI. st thomas has a few AIs. I stayed at the wyndman sugar bay and chose the AI plan and it includes EVERYTHING and tons of it.

ditto.  Sugar Bay's AI included drinks and food.  I think the only thing it does not include is motorized sports (which is not unusual)
