I know we've had more than enough threads on RDs but I can't find what I'm looking for.  :-/  I think someone asked a while back about possible smaller rooms you can rent for an RD in the Plano area (Richardson also okay).  I swear there was a place in Plano someone mentioned you could rent a balcony/patio or a room.  If anyone can think of anywhere like this, please let me know!

I've been at a loss on our RD.  Trying to keep it as inexpensive as possible (our families are really low-key).  Considering not going the restaurant route but rather having some inexpensive catering.  Worst case scenario we'd use my parents house in Plano.  They offered but I hate to do this to my parents and then they have a lot of clean-up to do.  I'd prefer to find a place we can rent for a reasonable price and maybe do BEP catering or something.  Should be 30-50 people.

My parents paid for the RDs for two of my brothers -- one was at Pappasitos and one was at Carinos.  My parents said they gave my brothers $1500 for each and whatever additional was accrued had to be paid for by them.  I know both of my brothers went over this amount because they had WP that ordered a lot of drinks.  We were planning on spending $300 or so on the RD, but when my mom told me that, it made me nervous that's not possible to do.

Any suggestions are welcome!

    This may still be a bit out of your price range but it is one of the cheapest we looked at.

    They are in Plano, have a menu that is $15 per person for salad, entree, and dessert.  You may be able to get them cheaper without dessert.  The food was good and its BYOB, so if you want alcohol, you can save a ton.  They have an upstairs room that you can reserve with the amount of people you have. Its a very casual italian place.

    Like I said may still be too expensive, but thought I would throw it out there.

    Thank you, BL!  That's exactly the kind of thing we're looking for!  I will definitely check into this today.  I'm happy to spend $15/pp if we can bring a few bottles of wine and avoid having to pay to have my parents carpet cleaned and such if we did it at their place.

    You might be able to rent the patio at Zanata or Urban Crust in downtown Plano.  I can't speak to the cost of that, sorry.

    Have you considered Blue Mesa?  I know there's one near Stonebriar.  Stephie Hall had hers at the one at North Park and it was $12 a person for fajitas and queso and all the fixings.  So, maybe with tax and gratuity, that's about $700 (off the top of my head).  You could see if they're willing to do margaritas or maybe extend their happy hour to your party.

    I'd look at Campisis... I know there's one off the tollway and 121 area. We are having ours downtown at Campisis and it's right at $1000 for 30 guests.

    We've opted to do a Cash Bar for the RD since we are paying for it on top of the reception (with open bar) the next night. I figured if anything, our wedding party can get me drunk since my wedding week schedule is limiting them to no bachelorette party like they tried to plan.
