Pls tell me about your candy buffet!

Hi ladies, I'm an old knottie and I pop on here very sporadically, but I hope you'll help me with some candy buffet logistic questions.I have a friend getting married next May and want to do a candy buffet.  I hired ours out to our DOC though, so she needs help with the logistics to do it herself. How much candy?  Where did you get it?  What did you use for packaging and where did it come from?  Do you have PIB's that I can borrow for inspiration? Please share any bios you've seen with great candy buffet inspiration too! Thanks so much, in advance!

Hi,You actually helped me to come up with ideas for my candy buffet.  I got married at CACC in September and during planning I had emailed you with some questions I had, so thank you for your help.  I have a few pictures of my candy buffet that I can send to you, just let me know your email address again please.  A friend of mine was getting married this year as well so her and I went to T.J Maxx and purchased all our our apothacary jars from there for super cheap, all were under $10 each.  Then she used the jars for her wedding and I used them for mine.  I purchased most of my candy from candywarehouse.com from the reccomendation of a friend them for work.  I bought quite a bit of candy.  You can buy candy by color from them and it all shipped to my house packaged nicely with ice packs as it was warm then.  I also ordered tongs from them and found metal scoops from sur la table in roseville for $3 each.We used 1/2 pint chinese take out containers and then decorated each box with our monogram.

My wedding is in March so I don't know how much help I can be!! I bought a variety of different apothecary jars, vases, etc. from Ross, TJMaxx, Michaels, Walmart, etc. - I have 14 in a variety of sizes (nothing really small) and that should be enough for our 230 guests. I have done a lot of research and heard that 1/2 lb per person is a good place to start, but a lot of the knotties say to buy enough candy to make your table look good which is what I am ultimately planning on doing. As far as places I am looking at candywarehouse.com, candyfavorites.com (which has free shipping over $64.00) and acandystore.com (which I think offers flat rate shipping of $9.95).  Sam's Club also has a lot of candy in bulk.  If she isn't trying to do just their wedding colors, buying in the stores in the best way to go because shipping can be SO expensive.I bought my favor bags from Michaels.FYI - I have inspiration pictures in my bio.  The DIY board is also a really good place to look for information.Good Luck!

You helped me with my candy buffet too!  I got my bags from orientaltradingcompany.com, purchased some candy from candy direct, bought some candy at Smart & Final, and had my florist provide the containers.

Let me know if you want some pictures.  My email is gyellen at gmail dot com!
