Bok Tower/Hollis Gardens

Does anyone have anything to share about Bok Tower or Hollis Gardens? We looked at Town Manor today but it's probably going to be too expensive (either that or we'll have to wait longer to get married!). We have an appointment to go see Bok Tower this week. =)

    I looked into Hollis Gardens, but ended up going with an indoor location because of weather concerns. Hollis Gardens is gorgeous, and definitely worth it. The cost is $250, plus $26 an hour, the catch is they only provide 12 seats for the elderly, and everyone else has to stand. They don't allow any other seating. If you do get married there, check out the Peggy Brown building for the reception, its adjacent, and a very pretty building with a great view of the lake.     Also connecting to Hollis Gardens in the Magnolia Building, equally pretty, and can fit about 250-300, while Peggy Brown is around 150. 

    I didn't look into Bok Tower for my wedding, but I just went for the first time a couple of months ago, and was completely underwhelmed, I didn't think the grounds were that that pretty. Our tour guide said that couples have gotten married in the Moon Garden out back of the mansion there, which was really nice. Let us know how your visit there goes!

    I LOVE Bok Tower Gardens! We got engaged there and if it was not such a drive for us we would have our wedding there hands down. The White Garden where they host most weddings was private and serene. We hope to go back to do our engagement photos there because we loved it so much.

    I'm kind of worried about the weather, too! We're hoping to have our wedding in October, so maybe it won't be too hot and the rainy season will be over. Sharonskye: Thanks for sharing your pictures! The ones taken of your and your husband seeing each other for the first time are priceless! I'll let you know how the visit goes! =)

    Megan: if you do get your engagement photos done there, please share! =) Wherever we decide to book, I want to get a photographer who has taken photos there before and knows where all the good shots are.

    Jennifer: where do you live? I'm in Lakeland, and I'm guessing you're close by if you're considering Hollis Gardens or Bok Tower. We did our engagement photos in Hollis Gardens, it was perfect for that. We even went over to the near by park to take some photos on the swings. I tried to climb the money bars in a strapless dress, definitely ended up flashing everyone in the park! 

    I had a july wedding, so an outdoor wedding was a very fleeting thought, hopefully the weather will cooperate with you in oct!

    Sharon:  I live just above Polk City, on the outskirts of Clermont. I used to live in Lakeland and taught at Medulla Elem. for a year. Bok Tower is close to my boyfriend's family, who live in Okeechobee. :)


    That's hilarious about your engagement pics... it sounds like something I would do! lol

    We visited Bok Tower today and looooved it! :) I really think we could get some beautiful pics there. The banquet hall there is too small so does anyone have some suggestions for a reception site closeby? (50-75 people)
