Headache reassurance?

Alright so you know when you search symptoms on google you're either pregnant or losing a limb or something?
I started getting a headache yesterday afternoon and I still have it now. Normally they go away when I wake up in the morning.
I googled if this was normal, and someone is saying it's likely a BRAIN ANEURYSM?

I mean, I'm sure it's not a brain aneurysm...but could it be serious or am I just paranoid?
Have any of you all had headaches for longer than a day or a headache that didn't go away when you woke up the next morning?

Re: Headache reassurance?

When I was in high school, I had a headache that last for months. My mom started taking me to every specialist around. We finally ended up at the Cleveland Clinic. And this super old doctor who specialized in headaches was able to diagnose me (I can't remember with what) and gave me medicine to fix it.

Is it maybe a caffiene headache?I know if I don't get my daily intake of caffiene I get a headache that will not go away.

But, I know of 3 people who have died from brain aneurisms. So, I always assume the worst also.

I'm assuming you have taken some kind of pain medicine? Sometimes a warm wet towel across my eyes and around my neck does the trick? If it is a tension headache, that should maybe help?

I had a headache so bad that I couldn't get out of bed for 4 days.  I literally felt like I just wanted to die so it didn't hurt anymore.  Nothing helped so I went to the emergency room.  Turns out it was hormonal - I had started the birth control patch the day before I got the headache.  I ripped that sucker off and the next day my headache was gone.

I do I get tension headaches a lot and sometimes I still have one when I wake up the next day.

What does it feel like? Is it on both sides or just one? Do you have a neckache with it? Does it feel like someone is squeezing your head?

It's sort of behind my eye and by my temple, and it hurts when I move really quickly.

I think I'm going to try the warm towel thing like Ember suggested and rest, luckily it's my day off today.

I don't think it's a caffeine headache because I've been slowly cutting coffee out over the past few months, but I have heard caffeine can help headaches so I could try that too.

ADTonk, maybe it's a period related thing if your doctor said yours was hormonal/due to bc...I did start my period a few days ago?

Alanna - It might be a period thing for you.  BC gives me headaches.  If I forget to start back up again after my period, I get a migraine.  The patch gave me a migraine (the doc didn't tell me that, it's the only thing that made sense).

I know exactly how you feel - I actually have a behind the eye & temple headache right now.  Mine goes down through my neck and shoulder too because I have a pinched nerve from a car accident.

If it's on one side of your head/face it's usually a migraine.  If it's on both sides it's usually a tension headache.  Excedrin Migraine or Excedrin tension hadache is the only thing that works for me.  Midol is pretty much the same thing as Excedrin.  I'd suggest trying that - it usually works for me.

Lots of people develop chronic headaches. I have had them since I was 16 and take a daily medicine for them, and also have something along the lines of prescription strength excedrin. Usually mine come and go all day, but when I am stressed, the pollution levels go up, my allergies/asthma act up, etc. they can last a couple days sometimes. When that happens I usually find that drinking at least a bottle of water, taking something for the pain (I recommend excedrin migraine) and sleeping it off helps the best. Sorry you're in pain :(

I'm with lindsayloowhoo...I have chronic daily headaches as well, and I also get really bad migraines.  I also get cluster headaches, which may be something to consider...those are really, really sharp headaches that last a brief time.  Mine are often coupled with my daily headaches (which my doctor actually thinks are "mini-migraines"), so I have a constant headache with occasional (really strong) sharp stabbing pains behind my eye.  Many people with cluster headaches think they're having an aneurysm, so when you said that my mind immediately went there.  I think if you DID have an aneurysm, you would know it by now.

That said...if this is really unusual, I'd go to the doctor anyway.  I'm a huge worrier, and anytime my headaches change, I'm back in my doctor's office.  If nothing else, it helps with peace of mind.  If you start presenting neurological symptoms (confusion, paralysis, numbness or tingling), I'd head to the ER.  These are a part of migraines for some people, but they're scary as crap, and can signal that something else is wrong.

I hope you feel better soon...headaches are no fun!  Frown

I get three kinds of headaches:
    1) Dehydration - these usually end up being migraines and come after some kind of physical activity. Hours of pain and sensitivity to light follow. Usually falling asleep and some excedrin help.

    2) Hormones - I've tried several different BCP but no matter which one I'm on, I always get a two day headache. It's annoying, but it isn't too intrusive, so I just suffer through it.

    3) Tension - I have a totally messed up neck/back, so I get these occasionally. Alternating ice and heat can really help, along with some ibuprofen (which releases the muscles). If you have them, muscle relaxers can help this too.

I'd spend maybe a day determining if your headache is any of these, then go see a doctor. They can relieve your fears pretty quickly, plus, I'd think a brain aneurysm would have more symptoms than just a headache. Good luck :)

Does this happen often? I get frequent severe migraines that can lasts for days. If this happens often, I would suggest going to see a neurologist. It sounds like it might be a tension headache, but I just noticed your picture in your signature..how long have you been wearing glasses- how long has it been since you have had your eyes checked? My sister would get headaches when she needed a new prescription. Does light or sound make it worse?

I used to get terrible headaches that lasted for days, my doctor said that I was dehydrated (I never used to drink water, yikes I know!)  So now when I get one I guzzle down a couple of glasses of cool water, not ice cold that tends to make it worse, and relax.  If it doesn't go away then I take an aspirin.

    Feel better soon!

Cu97tiger and Sparrow, I drink like three billion nalgene bottles a day of water so I don't think it's dehydration, but the way you describe the hormone headache makes me think it could be that (along with what ADTonk said too)

Liv, that sounds horrible!...this has been a day and I can't stand it so props to you. I hope you figure out some cure soon.

MidniteRae, I actually get headaches every once and a while (but they normally go  away when I wake up, that's why I was worried about them), and I was convinced it was my prescription. I got a new script about two months ago but the headaches still haven't subsided. Sometimes I still think it's my glasses though, BF can read things way before I can and I'm supposed to have 20/20 with glasses on. Bright light does hurt my eyes too, and I have prescription sun-glasses but they make me look like John Lennon...maybe it's time I try them out to see if the headaches stop though.

But I definitely want to thank you ALL for your help and reassurance, I can get very paranoid and google symptoms should be illegal.

I don't have any advice other than what you've been given. I just wanted to stop by and say that I've had these before, and they suck! I hope you feel better soon!

I had a headache that lasted almost a week, went to the doctor but she gave me some meds that made me drowsy so i couldn't take it during the day.  So I did get some relief at night I went back after a week tryign all sorts of OTC headache stuff too, she recommends getting an MRI i got freaked out.  I decided to go see a chiropractor, he did xrays and some other tests, he said if it were a tumor or something along those lines I wouldn't have been able to pass some of the tests( Physical) he gave me, he wanted me to see him start 2x a week and said he could make it better and my alignment was all off.  I was a bit skeptical since I've avoided chiropractors all of my life up until then, but I was desperate.  After the first session with him, which was the following day after the consultation my headache immediately went away.  I went for several months after as preventative measures.  Try a chiropractor though
