Videographer Help - Who did you use??

We originally planned to NOT have a videographer, but I think I am changing my mind. I have a feeling I will regret not having one after the fact.  Looking for recommendations as my wedding is in September, and I need to start researching. We prefer to stay under $2200K if possible, and I am looking for 8-10hr coverage.  I am NOT interested in Martins!

Thanks so much ladies!!!

Re: Videographer Help - Who did you use??

  • i just spoke to a videographer the other day- he seems great... i just dont want to spend that much money he was $1950 for 9 hours. he does a 25-30 minutes highlights film full ceremony/ toasts etc. as a short film ... and i forget i am pretty sure you get all the raw footage - 3 copies of your dvd w/ screen selection. His name is Scott Gilford here's his website

  • We'll be using Noah Stoner (StonerMedia).  He is charging $1500 for 8 hours of filming.

    Here is his website: http://stonermedia.net/

    Good Luck!

    Hey Coleyon,

I'm guessing from the fact that you don't want Martin's that you're looking for more of a cinematic production.  My FI and I knew we were looking for the same thing and our initial budget was around the same as yours.  Ultimately though for the offerings we found in that price range, we were not very impressed.  All of the "film" type of videographers in this range all seem kind of the same and indistinguishable.  We ended up increasing the budget and going with Louis Sparre with Tweed Weddings.  His work is phenomenal and we can't wait to see how our film turns out next year.  If you have any flexibility in your budget I highly recommend checking him out.  A bonus is that he has worked with our photog before and she absolutely loves his work and loves working with him.  I never thought about it before but it's a good idea, whoever you hire, to see if they've heard of or worked with your photog before.  Apparently if they don't like each other or don't know how the other works there could be tension around crowding the others' shots and getting in each others way.  It's an added bonus if they know how to work together I think.

You're right though, I hear that most people, if they have any regrets, it's that they didn't hire a videographer or they wish they hired a guy who did more than just stand there with a camera and a tripod.
  • Branded productions. I have mine for 8 hours one man and an extra stationary camera for the ceremony. I think it was 1900 , but that was a year ago. Still close to your max. I love their style. I was also verrrrry picky about videographers but didn't have a ton to spend.

We are using Artistic Hands Productions based out of South Jersey. You can look up their website and they have a lot of sample highlight videos up. Brian was so awesome when we met with him, he is the owner and is the one who will be filming our day. If you send an email, they will email you the prices of packages prior to setting up a meeting so you can see if it is in your budget. Our package was $2195 but that is the most expensive package, including 3 copies of your dvd, unlimited hours, and two videographers at the ceremony. The cheapest package started at $1295 for 6 hours of video and then I believe there was a middle package for $1795. We chose them because I really liked their highlight videos and they had great reviews online. And like a PP said, they knew my photographer and had worked with her before as well. When we met with Brian he showed us a whole video of someone's wedding, which was great to see. Also I like that they put a mic on the groom's tux and/or in your flowers so during the ceremony there is no echo sound. Check them out!

I am absolutey ecstatic we chose Louis Sparre at Tweed. If you can swing it by cutting out something else, do it.

  • We used Be Films and, I think, were under $2200 or very close thereto.  Although I haven't seen any of my deliverables yet, Colleen and Anthony (a married team) were wonderful to work with, and their past work is nothing short of amazing.  We had them for at least 10 hours, probably closer to 12.  And we get a highlight film, a longer 20-30 minute film, as well as the toasts/speeches, full ceremony coverage, and then the raw footage.
