question list for venue visits

I'm trying to put together a list of questions to ask event coordinators when we do venue visits, does anyone have any suggestions?!  The biggest thing I've come up with so far is asking for all costs to be laid out off the bat so there are no surprises when the final bill comes.  Thanks,

Sara

If you're having your ceremony outside and on site, what is the plan for inclement weather?
Do you have to use vendors (DJ, photographer, baker, officiant, etc) from a preferred list or can you chose your own?
Are there any additional rental fees: site rental, chair rental, etc? Are china, glassware, flatware included?
    Are there any restrictions?
Is there a bridal suite to get ready in?

  • Agree with PP, other questions to include are do they charge extra for linens? Deposits--how much is due to hold the date, and do you need to put more down through out (I know our venue we paid money to hold our date then we have another deposit due three months from that date, and then another due three months from that) our final amount is due a couple days before our wedding-- so thats a good question when do they need the final check. I trying to think we just went through all this! Questions will pop in your head when you meet with them! HTH!

  • Is there a day of coordinator?
Is tax and gratuity included in price?
Do they have centerpieces or do you have to bring in your own?
    Are there candle restrictions?
How does rehearsal work and when is it?
  • Which venues are you looking at?

I've never been to Bill Miller's.  I've been to other functions at Traditions and the food was good, service was good, and a very nice venue.  I also went to a wedding at Glastonbury Hills back in 2007 but unfortunately I don't have any feedback since it was quite a while ago.
  • Where are the BATHROOMS! Ha. That's probably something everyone forgets. But it would suck to have a ceremony and the bathroom is far far away!

Ask if they do food tastings. Ask if you're the only bride there that day. Ask if there is a certain time you *must* leave the property by. If it's a place with animals, ask if there is any restrictions due to that (we can't have styrofoam at the aquarium).
