Register for items as a set, or individually?

We'd like to register for Wustoff knives, which are on the pricey side. The set that we want costs $399. But we can also register for the knives individually if we wish--what would make more sense? The registry consultant at the store said we'd have more of a chance of receiving them if we registered for them individually, but there aren't many pricey items on our registry to pick from, so I wonder if someone might buy them for us...advice, please? :)

Re: Register for items as a set, or individually?

  • I would register individually because there is a better chance of getting them.

  • I would actually do both.  Register for both the set and individually.  And track it.  If you get the set, take off the individual knives and return any single knives you get for store credit.  People will understand what you're doing.

  • You might be surprised that some people will spend that much on a gift, but they certainly do! I would register for the set if you want, and see how it goes. You can register for both like the others are saying too. It's not wrong to register for a couple more expensive things, as long as you have good price ranges. You never know, maybe a close family member or friend will want to go all out and surprise you with a nice gift like that!

  • Thanks for the advice! I think we will go ahead and put them on our registry as a set even though they're pricey. Maybe someone will get them for us, and if not, oh well! :)
