Shades of pink

Hi all,

This question probably belongs on the Attire and Accessories board, but I think this board gets more action and I'm hoping you can help!

I really want my bridemaids to wear complimentary shades of pink.  I want them to go from dark to light so it looks ombre when we are all standing together at the alter and for pictures.

I am having trouble finding a bridesmaid dress designer that makes 6 complimentary shades.. I have found that they have maybe 3 in one pink family and then 3 in another family of pink, and they don't go together.

Does anyone know of any brands that do offer 6 complimentary shades so I can create this ombre vision?  I've tried Dessy but they don't!

Thanks so much in advance!

Re: Shades of pink

  • I think finding one designer with 6 progressive shades of pink is going to be a slight challenge.

I agree with the PP, give them a swatch and send them on their way!

David's Bridal has some dresses that come in like 44 different colors, have you checked there? Also, if you have found 3 shades that work, why not just have 2 girls in each dress?

The only issue with having them find their own dress in one specific shade is that it may be near impossible to do. You're already having trouble finding companies that make BM dresses do this. If I was given a very specific shade of pink (and had little leeway or it might encroach on someone else's shade), it would be difficult to find a dress that not only matched that shade and was in the right length, but one that also fit me, came in my size, looked good on me and was in my budget.

I think having BMs go out and get an LBD is one thing. Those are a dime a dozen. Asking me to get a certain shade of pink is another. I actually prefer as a BM to have the bride decide on a dress or give us a few to choose from. It can literally be hell to drive all over trying to find a really specific shade in a dress that comes in my size and fits all the requirements. Sometimes, though it seems to be opposite, it is actually easier on the BMs to NOT have them run around and find their own dress.

I agree with Steph that you could just have two girls wear each shade.

  • Designers aren't going to usually make 6 different shades of pink.  You might want to pick 2.  and just let them mix up the dress style.

  • thank you!  I'm thinking now maybe I will just pick one color and instead give them each a different color boquet, to create the ombre effect that way.  It seems like that would be a lot easier!
