Catering Help

I just received a call from the company we had chosen to cater our reception. Our final tasting was Friday which is when we were going to pay the deposit. During this call I was informed that there were no more openings available on our date for the food or the cake. We had been working with them for a few months, so we had no other company in mind. Who would you recommend? Price per person with the original company was around $14. We would like to stay within that. Thanks in advance!

    Wow that is really crappy of them! I'm not sure what kind of food you are looking for but I have heard great things about Hy-Vee food and cakes. I'd say with that price point you are probably really safe with them and she are dependable!

    Oh my gosh! That's messed up!  second Hyvee. I've heard nothing but great things!! Also Affordable Catering is another I hear a lot about---I didn't care for them when we went in for a tasting but I've been to a wedding where they've served great food!

    I was thinking of going with Sugar and Spice Catering. I believe they have price points around what you are looking for. I only tried a few samples from them at the last Bridal Spectacular but it was good. Is anyone here using them by chance?

    iheartbooks, This was Sugar & Spice. Their cake and food are both delicious, but if you choose them make sure to pay them quickly. We were told "other people got their money in quicker".

    I also am using the Hyvee for both catering and cake.  If you book three services (cake, flowers, and cater), you can also get a 10% discount.  It definitely would fit your price range.   I am getting 2 main entrees  and 3 sides for only $8.99 a person.  Very reasonable.  Not sure where you reside in the KC area, but I am using the one in Blue Springs.  I have only heard positive reviews and compliements about their work and food at least from this particular store.

    I work in our catering department at a HyVee in Kansas City. Our kitchen and catering manager are fabulous!! Prices start somewhere around $6.99, so I think that'd be perfect for your $14 price range if you wanted something more "fancy" than chicken. It's nice to be in that particular part of the store, because unlike any other place, I can honestly say that the quality and service is superb! I see how food is stored, handled, prepared and delivered. (another big plus - our delivery drivers are AMAZING). HTH

    We are using Affordable Elegance and it is $14.95 pp for the options we chose, but they had many many options that were cheaper as well.

    The food was wonderful and they are also doing my cake for 2.75 per serving.

    Our caterer was Sugar & Spice in Parkville. We were really excited because they were recommended by my uber-picky aunt and uncle. Now we will just get to see what else is out there.

    The only caterer I've worked with is Cupini's.  I may use them for my RD.  So far I've been impressed.

    In my previous career I used Affordable Elegance several times a month for catered lunches and dinners.  I always enjoyed working with them for their quality and dependability.  I am going to look into using them for our upcoming reception.

    i'm a fan of shining stars catering - they are willing to work with any budget and create a really unique experience for the bride and groom. i went to an expo on sunday and they were fantastic there!
