Knottie Advice needed!

So some of you may remember when I posted about being late and asking the Bump for advice and some weren't so kind about "scheduling ovulation" and that I dont chart or temp.

anyhow... I took two tests today... and they are POSITIVE YAHHHHHHHH!! Crazy shocking. I went up to show FI and had to sit down because I felt like I might pass out. He had to go get me OJ lol.

Anyhow, so we get married Saturday! We arent telling people yet obviously (which is why I am asking here!) But how can I avoid people buying me drinks, shots etc etc.
My plan is to just tell people 'Oh I dont want to drink on my wedding day"
Or if they give me a drink just hand it off to a friend saying "I dont need anymore"
But I need to avoid suspicion. I know some will suspect (definitely my sister will, which is fine really).
I also joked to FI that I should put Apple juice in a wine glass.

SO Help Please!!

Oh and I may DD this, just in case. I dont think anyone I know goes on here, but you never know!

TIA

  • You could just drink sparkling cider all night.  It's bubbly and no one would know that it's non-alcoholic because it comes in a bottle. :)  I'm so happy that you're happy!  That is SUPER exciting.

    First off.. CONGRATULATIONS MOMMY!!!!

And I think that I would stick with the I don't wanna get drunk on our wedding day. Tell them no shots and hand off your drink to your FI when no one is looking or randomly have to set it down to kiss on your new husband and just happen to forget it.

  • AHHH congratulations!!!! Thats so exciting!

I would do either apple juice or ginger ale in a wine glass. or just a rum and coke (minus the rum etc.)

Also, always try and have a drink in your hands so no one wants to get you a drink.

If someone wants to buy you shots, just say that you dont want to take shots on your wedding day, and if someone buys you a drink, just take it, take a fake sip and leave it somewhere when they aren't looking!

  • I agree with all the advice from PP's. Try to say something like oh I don't want to drink but if that doesn't work then just take it and don't drink it.

CONGRATS! I'm so happy for you and just a little bit jealous!
  • CONGRATULATIONS!!! I would just have a glass in my hand when going up to say hello to people or if they want to buy you a shot/drink- just say you've drank enough. No one will ever know :)
  • If you only have one bartender, you could give him a heads up in advance that you'll need a few "mocktails" throughout the night

  • I agree with all the advice! especially always having a drink in your hand! if you dont have a drink, people will want to get you a drink. but if youve got a drink all night, they wont worry about it as much.

Congratulations to you and future hubby!!!

    I agree!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is so exciting. yay!
  • I would have the bartenders have drinks made that look like something, maybe ginger ale with a lime in it or whatever and always cary it with you. :) Congrats!

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :)
  • CONGRATS! That's wonderful!

I would do something like sparkling cider in a glass so noone questions you. I would tell the bartender or catering manager or whoever can be in charge of getting drinks out to make sure that your glass is secretly filled with that instead of champagne. If people try to give you drinks, I would just say "oh I've had enough today for the nerves, but thanks!" or something like that.

    Congrats!

I agree with the advice above. The key to tricking people (I dont have a baby but i have been fooled by preg friends) is the glass that your drink is served in.

Water is also served in a water glass... which makes perfect sense.

Ask the bartender for water, with a lime and two mixing straws served in a rocks glass. It looks just like a gin and tonic.

If you are going to drink soda during your pregnacy. Try sprite (its caffiene free) with a splash of cranberry juice and a lime. It looks like vodka cranberry.

If you are already holding a rocks glass people will automatically assume you already have a drink.
