in July 2013 Weddings
I am so excited to go to my 1st show today! Its in the city I live, not the city the wedding will be, so I am just going to get ideas and enter contests if I am able to. 

The show that my wedding is in is not until Oct :( But the postive is they have another in Feb, so I get to go to two shows down there soon enough. 

Any bridal show experiences yet?

    I think I'm SOL on shows. Both the town we live in and the town we're getting married in do them in January. I'll probably do the local one next year if we decide to do an AHR.

    I've only ever been to one at the request of my MOH, also a bride. I ended up winning a GC I can not use. I thought the whole thing was kinda blah...

    I hope you have fun at yours! I have a close friend who is a wedding planner, and she warned me that bridal shows have become large sales pitches for wedding vendors. Even as a vendor herself, she avoids them and only goes to 1 or 2 a year because brides are catching on and traffic is very low at the smaller shows. 

    Let us know what your experience is! I may still change my mind and go to one if they have one while I am back in Michigan sometime.

    I've been to 3! haha. i love them, but be careful who you give your information to... i have a never ending stream of wedding crap in my mailbox/inbox/voicemail. also, if you want all that stuff, make sure you get a separate email address for wedding stuff and get some labels made up with your names, addy, email, phone and wedding date to expedite the contest entering! i've heard that some people only give accurate emails and change their phone numbers by one digit so if they win something they can say it was a mistake, and if they don't then they get to avoid the spam calls! i go to the fancy ones that have free champagne and amuse bouches :) the last one i went to was really lame, though and only gave out ONE sample of wine per person. not my kinda party! hope you had fun, though!

    So the show was just ok, but worth an trip to downtown Chicago! This was a smaller event. Free wine and of course cake from three different vendor. So vendors were impressive, one snubbed me...interesting. Free cake wins every time, so hey free stuff and free cake! The goody bags were good and I entered a few contest, which was my main goal. I think I will be more excited when I attend shows in my wedding location, even through many vendors were willing to travel. I also took home some things I can place in my bridal purse like tinted lipgloss and eyelashes. Lastly, as a Yelper, I was able to review a new hotel conference space, so that's cool. I do need to make sure I give them a phone number one digit off! Man, I wish I thought of this. Oh well. Thanks for the tip.
