ending after 40 years

The end of a 40-year marriage is sad, no matter who you are, or your political background.  That's a lifetime!  To quit on a marriage after that long, just seems really disappointing to me.  Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but I hope people were as sad as I was when I read that on MSN this morning.

  • There is actually a post already started just down the page a bit.

  • It is sad, but sometimes for the best. It seems to be a mutual decision, so hopefully the healing process can begin quickly and not be dragged out by a nasty divorce battle in court. Weird that some of the healthier relationships fall apart while other obviously unfaithful marriages stay together...
  • I'm pretty sure no one just up and quits a 40 year marriage for no reason, Judgy McJudgerson.

  • It is sad, and life is sometimes funny like that.  I know one couple married for 40+ years, divorced and the ex wife donated her kidney to the ex-husband.  (not an alcoholic or anything like that).  I also know of a couple that divorced but when he was diagnosed with cancer, his ex-wife became his live in nurse.

  • Yes you never know and living in the public eye has to be hard.
