  Most likely, only people who are invited to or attend the wedding will choose to send a gift.  (No one is required to give you one, though, and if they have travel expenses they may not be able to get you one.)  So, if you're only inviting a dozen or two people, then it's probably more trouble than it's worth.  You could still do a very small one, though, if people ask you about it.
