P.O. for hand-canceling?

Anyone have a positive experience taking your invitations to be hand-canceled at a post office location in the metro area? I work in downtown D.C. but most of the post offices & staff around here are rude and incompetent. Not that I blame them, but still. Was considering going to Georgetown, or VA or MD, and would welcome suggestions from those who've been successful attempting this.

My sister's friend went to the Postal Museum and apparently the stamp they use is quite pretty.

Thanks Razdazzle!  I didn't realize the PO Museum did mail things - I only go to the big PO down below it.

We shipped all our invitations to the Post Office in Bridal Veil, OR.  The name was nice, plus they have two different wedding-appropriate cancellation stamps and they hand-cancel everything.  You can see information on it here, if you are interested.

We did ours in Loveville MD. It's a very small PO and the person working behind the desk get svery excited when there are customers. Poor thing, she there all day by herself. Their stamp is super cute...it's two cupids and a few hearts in red ink. It's a drive though. It took us at least an hour and half to get there from Alexanndria, VA, but it was worth it. She took very good care of us and our invitations.

Thanks 2dBride! I had read about Bridal Veil and considered it, but with the extra cost of shipping our invitations again (after already having shipped envelopes back and forth from the calligrapher) and the fact that we're on a tight timeline, it wasn't practical.

Cathie - agree, so cute! Didn't realize there was a town so aptly named. If the PO Museum/Union Station doesn't work maybe I will try that. Thanks!

I did mine at the large post office at the corner of north capitol but not the museum part.  They were very pleasant.  They problem I faced with VA was they didn't have what I was looking for in terms of stamp(s).  I went to a couple different PO and I was told to try another branch.  When I think back, I should have just stuck with DC instead of wasting my time and going to VA.
