August Wedding - too hot?

We are thinking of booking our wedding on August 10, 2013.  Other than taking pictures outside for a few hours, everything will be mainly indoors. My parents are really against August because they think it will be too hot but we really can't find another date we all like.  Anyone have an August wedding?  Thoughts?  It's so hard to predict the weather these days anyway...

Re: August Wedding - too hot?

  • I had an August wedding.  I got married on 8/19 of this year.  It was hot but not unbearable.  You just have to plan some breaks- we took pictures, rode in the air conditioned limo for an hour, then took some more pictures, then went to the bridal suite for an hour.  Just keep it to short bursts and it's really not a big deal.  Also, if someone isn't necessary in the pictures, plan for them to be indoors.  When my husband and I were taking our portraits, everyone was hanging out in the limo.  When we did family photos, the bridal party was hanging out insde.  I was more worried about the potential rain than anyone being too hot.
  • I got married on July 2 of this year... and it was 90 degrees that day.  We were totally fine, but our chuch and venue were air conditioned and we didn't do anything outside other than pictures.

The one thing that we did suggested to our groomsmen was to have 2 shirts, just in case you sweat through the first one.  My husband did that for a previous wedding, and it was the greatest idea ever.
