  It's certainly nice, especially with OOT guests, to have a short distance to travel between ceremony and reception.  However, I think you could get away with 20-25 minutes with no trouble.  There is so much nearby that you should be able to find something nice within that travel time.

  
  

  Alternatively, since you are getting married in Arlington, you should have your reception at Rangers Ballpark, because I would love to see those pics.

  There are quite a few people that have their ceremony elsewhere. Both times I've been a BM this year my brides had their wedding in Grand Prairie or Arlington and then came to downtown Dallas for the reception, depending on how north you'd be in Arlington I wouldnt' look for venues extremely north of Dallas or FT Worth since that would be quite a bit further drive, but don't feel like you have to stay in the confines of Arlington and GP cause there's not a whole lot there.

  The general consensus on the national boards where this gets asked a lot is that up to 30 minutes of travel is acceptable.

  I have heard the rangers stadium and the cowboys stadium multiple times because they are a literal 5 minute drive on the high way from my parents house and the church is even closer to my house than that.  Unfortunately I really like the rustic, wildflower look and would love love love to have our reception at a place that reflects that (stockyards) or something similar.

  I agree with PPs. I don't think 20 minutes would be bad but I would try to cap it at 30. If you think about it, your guests are going to have to have a mode of transportation whether it be for 5 minutes of travel or 25...so as long as the distance isn't crazy far it shouldn't be an issue.

  Also, if your reception is going to be a trip, try to get your hotel at least in between the two or maybe closer to the reception place.  At least, that's how I would want it.  I wouldn't want to have to drive thirty minutes back to my hotel after partying all night.

  We had the ceremony in North Dallas and the reception in Grapevine and it didn't seem to be an issue. The hotel we choose was closer to the reception and we were able to use the hotel shuttle for OOT guests. So after the ceremony they went to the hotel, freshened up and shuttled to the reception. And it was free!

  If you have a good majority of OOT guests, I think that it would be good to be mindful of where they are staying and factor that in as well. It may just be a 30 minute drive from the church to the venue, but what if it took them 20 minutes to get from the hotel to the church? On the way back, it would be a 50 minute drive back to the hotel. At night in an unfamiliar location, I would scoff at that (unless it is mostly highway mileage).
  I'm not saying that it would be any different for in-town guests, but it is something to consider.
