July 2012 Weddings

ATTN brides with 2 separate wedding bands

How are you handling them the day-of?  Are you tying them together?  Are you only using one for the ceremony?

Curious to see what others are doing... we're probably going to tie mine together with thread or something.

Re: ATTN brides with 2 separate wedding bands

  • I think I am going to wear my enagagement ring down the aisle, then use the wedding band for the ceremony. After the ceremony I'll switch the rings, so my wedding band is on first.

  • I am getting my second band either for our first anniversary or as my first push present....so I am of no help here!!
  • Probably using my e-ring the entire time and will flip it over after the ceremony so the wedding band will be on the bottom. I can't fit my e-ring on my right finger- my right fingers are fatter than my left fingers!

  • I am keeping my ering on my left hand b/c it does not fit on my right hand.  FI will put both rings on right next to my ering.  Then once the ceremony is over I will switch them around so I have 1 on each side.  I bought a small ring bag at AC Moore for
.39 cents.  Its just an ivory little bag with a string on it to close it we will keep all 3 of the rings in the bag and give it to the best man right before the ceremony starts.

  • I'm going to wear my e-ring and one of my wedding bands on my right hand. My FI will put one of my wedding bands on my left hand during the ceremony. Right after, I will switch the 2 rings that were on my right hand to my left (so that each band is on each side of my e-ring).

  • I am not having my e-ring on at all on the wedding day. FI will put both the e-ring and the wedding band together on my finger during the ceremony.

I've never heard the "first push present" phrase before. I'm assuming it when you give birth? lol

I wish I had bought a second band because my e-ring doesn't look right with only the one band. I think I'll get the second band eventually to even things out.

  • Mine are connected with metal by the jewler. They are perfectly spaced out so that my e-ring will drop right in between the two rings. My FI will put the "one" ring on my finger during the ceremony, then after i will take my wedding ring off drop the e-ring in the middle and put it back on (my e-ring will be on my right hand for the ceremony).

  • I'm debating right now if I'd like to have my ring soldered together before the ceremony.
  • I have two bands (one from FI & one from my mom) They are matching- I think I'm going to have one soldered onto my e-ring a day or two before the wedding- then wear that down the aisle and use my other one in the ceremony. I've got such a busy weekend then were leaving on Monday for St. Lucia so I think getting the one soldered on before will just be one less thing I have to do that weekend.

I am wearing my engagement ring and FI best man will hold the band. Then after the wedding I want to get the 2 rings put together to make 1 complete ring.

Push present is a gift the husband gives the wife or whatever after she has the baby. Kinda like a good job i love you im proud of you for carrying and having our child.
I have 2 children. Didnt need a push present and didnt want one! lol I cant imagine having to spend the amount on having a child and then going and spending money on a ring.

haha yea, we have always talked about doing something special for each other when we have our first child, so we might get the second band to commemorate that. I think push present is a funny phrase, but I am not sure what else to call it. Our jeweler suggested the second band as a first anniversary present as another option.  My bands are so thin that they are not particularly expensive, so either way it makes sense.

my ring is the same way as yours though - since I have a split shank, it looks a little funny with just one band.

My engagement band and wedding band are a matching set. They kind of hook around each other when put together. So during the ring part of the ceremony, FI will hold both the e-band and the wedding band together and put them both on my finger at the same time.

  • I won't have my e-ring on from whenever FI gets to the venue & puts my rings together...I got an enhancer, so I won't be wearing my e-ring until he puts it back on my finger with my wedding band at the ceremony.

So you'll just have the 2 wedding bands loose?

My FI has butterfingers and I'm so afraid he'll drop one.

I'll be wearing my e-ring on my right hand for the ceremony.. it fits that hand better anyway.

  • I will most likely wear Ering on right hand and then have him just put the one band on. I'll run back inside after the ceremony and grab the other one and put it on
  • I got mine soldered together and resized now - I want them to be all together when we go to the honeymoon. Plus the consultant at the jewelry store recommended to do it before as it is very hard to fumble with 3 rings at the altar (she had just gotten married and said she would have done this part differently so I trusted her). I'm picking up the whole set on Wednesday to make sure the size is right or it will go back for another week to be resized again. The day of I'm not going wear it until FI puts it back on my finger during the ceremony.
