I put in my input too. I think they were quoting me from before. I think my medical talk went over their heads. Some people in Physicians for Life (NOT all Catholic) are okay with certain forms of birth control, but their reasons are very thought out but still controversial. I have already thought of a bunch of clarifications I should make but just don't yet have the energy to do so. I'll check back in later.

I think it's a losing argument honestly. For every person who swears by a particular method, there will be one that swears otherwise.

And this includes doctors that I've discussed the subect with

I agree oot. My own ob/gyn told me it wasn't sucessful at preventing pregnancy and my H wouldn't like it anyway bc you can't just have sex any time of the month.

I said something similar on the other thread, but this issue annoys me enough that I will say it again here. It is very possible your OB/Gyn has no idea what they are talking about. Most of the time it is not a topic covered in med school--DH is about to reach that section and I will be interested to see what they say, if they even mention it at all.

My MIL and FIL are doctors and it was not covered at all in med school (FIL is an OB/GYN and they went to med school in the eighties) There are a few Catholic NFP Only OB/GYNs in the area who ended up structuring their practice that way and had to do the learning on the topic themselves. Many doctors confuse it with the Rhythm Method.

Interestingly, I post often on a board where there are a lot of medical spouses--the topic has come up a few times there and it seems like the ob/gyns don't know much about it either.

its really a shame...its basic science!

i agree, many think its rhythm method - i think thats what the med student in the other thread thought. that def doesnt work.
