What else do I change??

I know I need to change my license , do I need to change my last name on my social security card ? Anything else I need to change ?

Re: What else do I change??

  • Check with your work, if there's a certain form to change the paystubs. (I work at Crozer,  and they have certain forms to change your name.)

Go to Social Security and wait for your new SS card to come before going to the DMV.  You'll also want to change your passport, voter registration, car insurance and title/registration, tax forms, bank accounts, credit cards, frequent flyer mile accounts.

It was a really annoying and surprisingly expensive process (passport fees, extra marriage license fees, DMV and SS fees, etc).  My wedding planner recommended missnowmrs.com to me, which was a big help.  You input basic info and it fills out the relevant forms automatically for you and creates an instructions page for each form telling you where to take it/mail it and what fees go along with it, etc.  I think it's like $30, but there are sometimes Groupon deals for $10-15.  It's definitely worth the groupon price, and I think I would have paid full price for all of the time it saved me.

  • Thanks ladies ! Very helpful .... I didnt realize how much I would have to change !
  • First u need to get a certified copy of ur marriage certifiicate from the county- then u fill out the social security form. Then I went down to the social security office in my county with my licsense, the form, and the cerified copy. Or u can mail it (I chose to go down bc I didn't want them holding onto the certified copy that cost 25 bucks). Then I filled out another form for penndot and went to the DMV with a copy of the certified marriage certificate and the paper work that the SS office gave me.  You can also do this by mail if you prefer.
