DOC - How much should I expect to pay...

for a DOC? FI and I each have an aunt that has backgrounds in wedding planning so we don't really need to hire a full service event planner. However, I would like for each of them to be able to enjoy the ceremony and reception without having to "work". I met with a planner and can't tell if her price is fair. Please give me an idea of what is typical...particularly Georgia brides, but all other input is welcome too.

I guess it depends on the area and the planner experience. The majority of the planners in my city Cincinnati, Ohio wanted 1k-2k for DOC services. I guess they would be considered the elite of DOC services? I did find some planners not well known , word of mouth do other brides or a few bridal shows offering 500 and up for DOC services.

Yes I agree anywhere from 500-2k for the Doc services.

I think that's about right, but it really depends on the area.  My DOC is charging less, but she made a big fuss about how that's not typically what she charges, so she's going to let someone else on her staff be the DOC for my wedding. Well, as long as she's good, 'cause I would sure hate to talk shyt about her.

For DOC svcs in atlanta you should expect to pay 400-1000, those were prices I saw when I was looking.

Well honestly I am paying considerably less. I reside in Charlotte NC and the cost typical for a DOC is about $500 and up for the "elite" planners but there are other planners out there charging less than that. So I think it is all in the area and who you chose. My coordinator is charging us a lot less because she planned most of our wedding before I had to change our wedding date. So when she picked us up for day of services, it was far less than what she would have charged someone else.

I'm skeptical of those quoting upwards of $2k for DOC.. I'm in Atlanta and I've hired a full service planner and am paying only slightly more than that. My guess would be closer to the $500 range. I am happy to give you a reference, if you'd like. I would reccommend AGAINST using a gust as your coordinator because if they're any good, they'd be spending all their time coordinating and therefore will not have much time left to just enjoy the day. Definitely hire someone to make sure all details are taken care of. That way you won't have to worry about Aunt So and So not getting to participate the way you'd both want her to be able to.

It varies my planner is charging 1200 for everything, but charges 600 for DOC, but that's in Florida.
