Stella Blues for catering, has anyone used?

We are getting married in Maui and since its a destination wedding we won't have a chance to taste the food. We are looking at using Stella Blues in Maui and I can't find any reviews. Has anyone on here used them? Are they good?

Re: Stella Blues for catering, has anyone used?

  • We did a tasting with them and thought the food was ok but we liked the food at our other tastings better as it was more elegant

  • Who else did you try and liked?
  • I haven't used them for catering but I have been to their restaurant many times, and they are good.  That said, we used Food for the Soul catering and their food was amazing, and their service was even better!

  • We ended up going with Aloha Events Catering. We also liked Celebrations but they were even more expensive for a sit down dinner. Aloha's food was equally good and they pride themselves on 5 star service. The wedding is in less than a month so I will have a full review soon :-)

  • We live here, and we never eat at Stella's. To us, food is just blah.

  • I've eaten there twice. Food is ok, kind of over priced for what you get.

  • We used them for our wedding on March 5th and got RAVE reviews from our guests!  I thought the food was wonderful!!!  I definitely recommend you consider them.
  • Thanks timandwendystrack, that is helpful. I have eaten at the restaurant before was never very impressed but catering can be very different form the restaurant experience I've had it go either way, amazing restaurant not so great catering or so so resturant and amazing catering. I am just worried cause I could not find any reviews on their catering anywhere.
  • I have never been to the restaurant so I didn't have anything to compare it to.  We had the NY Steak, the Onaga in a Ti Leaf, and Angel Hair Pasta as the choices for the guests.  My husband said the steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork (yum!).  I had the onaga and it was cooked perfectly.  We had lamb chops, soup shots, and ahi tuna in saimin spoons for appetizers.  People kept telling me they would eat a whole bowl of the ahi if they could!

I was nervous too about picking a caterer since I didn't do a scouting trip to taste anything ahead of time - but at the end of the day, I trusted my coordinator and it turned out even better than I hoped!  We also looked at Cafe O'Lei but ultimately went with Stella Blues.

The staff was also very attentive and on the ball - I have nothing but positive things to say about them!
