As most of you know, my job and I have not been getting along lately. The postdoc I work with is the laziest person I know, I'm underpaid for what I do, and I don't have the freedom I could have at other locations.

Friday I found out that the grant my pay comes out of just got reviewed at NIH (ever year we have to turn in stuff saying this is what we are doing, this is what we've done so far, blah blah blah). Well, between our report and their funding situation our funding was decreased. My boss and I sat for hours trying to come up with a way to work with our new budget of $500 a month. In the science world, that's pretty tough with what we do and how much everything we need to do our jobs costs. The only thing we could do was cut both our pay. We decided to cut my boss's pay down and cut me down to part time but keep my full benefits and vacation/sick time I currently have. This becomes in effect on March 5th.

Part of me is really happy about the decision because now I have more time to DIY for the wedding, figure out where we will move to, and not make me what to kill the postdoc. However, now I only will make $100 above all my bills. That's the part that sucks and I'm really not happy about. So now I'm off to look for a better job. The other good thing is that if I end up finding a full time job somewhere else I can just do what I do now on the weekends or at night to keep the added income (plus my boss loves me and knows he really couldn't keep everything running without me).

Where my FI works I could get a job with him easily since I have a degree in psychology. I'd make slightly less but it's income until I find something better. I also have a few connections at 2 local and large hospitals so hopefully that can work. Beyond that, though not ideal, I could always get a job at the University of Michigan. I only say not ideal due to the distance and commute time.

My biggest issue with a job is I'm leaving research. With all the crap I've dealt with recently and funding looking worse, I need to get out when I can. Plus, I feel like I lost my passion and when it comes down to it, being a PI (head investigator) doesn't really get me to do what I want so I'm going into healthcare management. I clearly have enough medical experience and management experience to get a great job in it but I just need the business part of it degree so I plan to go in the fall for a masters in healthcare admin. Now I'm on my way to being the president of a hospital... wish me luck.

We just got a letter from my building-they are starting a giant construction project on the ENTIRE building. We can't run our a/cs AT ALL monday-friday, 9am-5pm. We have to keep the windows and blinds shut during that same time period. And we won't have access to our balconies AT ALL until the project is completed.

When do they expect to be done? November 2012!!!!! So we a) can't have our windows open or a/cs running during the summer b) can't enjoy our balconies at ALL during the warmer months and c) will be plagued by constant noise 8am-5pm every day of the week.

I am not usually home during those hours, thankfully, but FI will be. He may jump off the balcony that we no longer have access to.

Now that my shoulder's starting to feel slightly better (as in I can dry my hair normally without wanting to cry), now I get a cold and my head feels like it could explode. Maybe it's because our weather is on an acid trip right now. It SNOWED all day on Sunday and today's high is 76!! WTF.

I'm not too bad this week. I am annoyed with work. I volunteered to take on a new account a couple weeks ago. It's a bar that the previous ad rep couldn't keep in the paper consistently. She said he's spent $20,000 with us in the past so I said hey why not I'll take it on. I should've know not to when no one else raised their hand for it. I wish I didn't take it on because he is impossible to get ahold of. I have 2 days left to sell our bar guide and he did $925 in it. Ugh! I wanna give it up. I told my boss I'm worried about making it and getting full commission but she said don't feel like that it's a dead account. You'll get your regular commission. I wish I could just say I don't want it anymore

Got the middle finger from Uncle Sam about my taxes - they're delayed so I won't be getting them for a few more weeks.

Oh, and to the person in the office across the hall that ate garlic fish for lunch, thanks for sharing the scent...

<div>They are "restoring" all the balconies. Which I know they are replacing all the grates and maybe redoing the tiling on some of the ones with floor damage (ours is fine). And we do not live in a fancy building with period architecture that needs to be preserved. It's just plain wrought iron bars. I don't know why it's going to take so long but I want to cry. We just went through the apartment being remodeled next door for three months, now this. </div>

Megan I'm so sorry about all of your work troubles and I sincerely hope that you can find something that will not only match your skill set but where you are appreciated and recognized for what you do.

Chels I would also like it to be June 23rd but I think I more so want it to be June 24th so my butt is sitting on the beach with a beer!

I'm just frustrated with life lately and have been so down about everything and poor fi has been so awesome about it with me. I wish I could take everything that he believes in me with and transfer it to myself.

What makes it harder is that I really want to be the next student manager. Our general manager said she would too and is glad I'm interested. I'm afraid if I say anything to our general manager she'll look at it like I'm giving up and she said she was anxious to see what I could do with him :/

FI's job situation is getting scarier. His boss has put it writing twice now that if he doesn't sell his soul to the paper, he could lose his job. Needless to say, going back to HD is looking pretty good for him right now. They have some good, set hour, full time jobs available right now. It's called work-life balance people, you need it to keep your sanity.

Living at home is the only thing causing stress about this wedding. I'm just done being at home and I can't wait. I also can't wait to tell my friend who keeps telling me that I won't know what to do with myself and that it's a bad thing once I move out, that I LOVE IT. Seriously, who doesn't love freedom and not having to tell your parents about every second of every day and every decision? ME! I can't wait.

I'm worried about all the changes that are going to happen at the school I work at. We just got a new superintendent who seems to know what he's doing. The former one was let go do to some bad financial decisions. My principal is awesome, but she's leaving this summer. We don't know who we are getting to replace her. I'm really sad to lose her.

I'm the Title One Math Coach which may last another year if it's in the budget. I'm lucky to have it this year! There's a 4th grade position opening second semester....I hope I get it. I love the school where I work and it's where I went to school. I don't want to work anywhere else!

I'm trying to straighten out a surgical bill from October! I of course thought everything was paid between me and my insurance. But surprise I got a bill for $328 two weeks ago. I have been on the phone numerous times trying to figure it out. I have been told 3 times that they would call me back....which they never do. So frustrating!

I have reached the point with my job that the only thing that brightens my day is the idea I will be laid off in April. All my perks have been canceled and replaced with a "soft rewards" system. Ha. Also, all of my bridesmaids suck. I wish FI didn't insist on having a wedding party.
