Paleo 30 Day Challenge

I adjusted my eating to Paleo lifestyle, and from Feb 6 to March 6 I lost 5 pounds and 1.5inces.
I wasn't really going for pounds, I was more going for leaning out. But I am quite happy with my results.
I feel so good with this new lifestyle, and I will stick with it from now on. Of couse with a few adjustments...like peanut butter, cheese, and the odd quarter pounder :P

Re: Paleo 30 Day Challenge

  • Glad it's working for you.  Congrats!

i'm not a fan of non-medical based exclusionary diets generally but I think that's because a lot of people can end up nutritionally deprived because they don't quite know what they should eat to keep their body healthy.

i have what might be a really silly question though.  How did you hope to lean out without losing pounds just based on diet?  I get leaning out due to exercise since you're essentially replacing lost pounds of fat with more muscle, but this I don't get.
  • I also go to the gym 4 times a week.

Anna, I think OP just means that she cares more about her inches lost than pounds lost.. Not that she didn't want to lose pounds... ?

Glad that it worked out well, OP! Are those the only things you are adding back in, or will you add back in all dairy? I know my friend was strict paleo for a long time and looks unbelievable, but has let dairy back in because she misses cream in her coffee, hehehe.

I'm kinda with Anna, though. I personally don't believe in cutting out grains. Sure we weren't originally eating them, but we also weren't originally living in houses either. I do 'clean eat" though so I only eat whole grains and avoid the empty calories of refined stuff like white flour..but that's not because of the caveman deal.. that's just because I can actually feel a difference in my body. Of course, if a change like that is a lifetime choice you can keep and it feels great for you, than that's what counts!

I'm definitely torn about dairy, though. I can't decide if I want to cut it out all together... I have done far too much research on the topic and am now just at a stand-still haha -_-

The important thing at the end of the day is that you found a way of eating that keeps you responsible, holds you accountable, but keeps you SAFELY healthy. :) Congrats on your work done thus far!
How's the exercise part going? Anything you do in particular?
  • AH!  It was a silly question then.  I don't think my brain is quite turned on today  ;)

<div>haha love it... It's okay.. I could be TOTALLY wrong.. but I figure benefit of the doubt? :P </div>
  • We have also decided to do the Paleo diet...so far my soon to be hubby has lost ten pounds, I have lost six in about a month..we have cheated twice maybe three times so far, and by cheating I mean we had pizza one night and mexican food one night. Its been rough at some points but its very nice to see the results...I agree that the exclusion is not for everyone...but we have a great coach who has herself lived a Paleo life and we will slowly add in things like goats milk and she says pure milk is ok. there are many things that she has said we can put back in once we decide to...good luck on your journey...if its working for you and you are getting your nutrients then keep it up.
  • I've been reading the "Paleo Solution", but I am not finished yet. I still need to learn about how to make sure I am getting all the right nutrients.

I still have cream in my coffee, but have been able to cut out sugar in it. Unless its a McDonalds coffee, they are too strong without sugar.  Most of my meal planning will continue to fall under the Paleo Lifestyle, but I won't be afraid to cheat with ice cream too :)

  • FI has been keeping his carbs at 100 per day and counting his calories. He has lost 30 pounds so far. He loves it.
