7 day cleanse? Will someone do this with me?

I really want to try this...

However I suck at doing it by myself so I was curious if someone will try with me... Lets say... Starting Sunday?

  • Is this even healthy? By lowering your calories by 500 per day (3500 calories per week, but don't fall below 1200 calories per day) you can safely lose 1lb a week. 10 lbs in 7 days sounds really drastic and unhealthy. As soon as you start eating normally again, you will gain all of this back right away. Eating only fruit or soup for an entire day does not sound good for you and almost impossible to get to 1200 calories - same with only eating vegggies. Why not just stick to 1200 calories and try to eat as clean as possible? You will get the same results but probably feel less starved and you don't have to deprive yourself.

  • The lbs you lose from cleanses are usually not completely fat.  10lbs of fat loss in 7 days is not a good idea.  But with cleanses it's often fluid, toxins, waste, etc.

  • This cleanse is neither balanced, healthy, nor calorically sufficient.  Sure, you'll lose weight.  Lots o water. Not a bright idea.

Your body is designed to cleanse itself.  If you eat a healthy, clean, and balanced diet it will serve you far better than giving in to gimmicks like this cleanse crap.  As for toxins.. that whole thing is bunk.  Stop eating crappy food and in a few days all the crap is out of your system and replaced with the nutrients, water, and vitamins you'll have gotten from eating healthy.  Your kidneys, liver, colon and such know how to do their job.  I don't know why people think they can replace the body's functions more efficiently than they already exist.
  • I agree with everyone on here.....these cleanses do not work and you will only end up gaining back all the weight you loss PLUS more. Do this the easy way and eat healthy, drink lots of water, work out 5-6 times a week, and try not to eat bread, pasta or rice after lunch. I tried everything out there, and this has worked for me. I have lost 10 pounds in 2 months!

  • Fruits are very high in calories and I would never go below 1500 calories a day... When I eat 1200 calories a day i feel like I'm starving myself (and I'm pretty tall so I think 1200 is too little).

I already eat pretty clean, but I'm stuck at my weight loss so I thought this cleanse may help jump start me again... I don't expect to loose 10 pounds... I just want my weight loss to start again.

  • What is the benefit of this "cleanse"?  There is no scheduled elimination process to flush the toxins out of your body, it sounds like a crash diet and very unhealthy to me.  Eating dairy and meat during a clease makes no sense at all since those are two of the biggest culprits for all of the toxins and chemicals in our bodies.   Right now I am doing The Master Cleanse (www.themastercleanse.org) but not for weightloss so much as to rid my body of all the toxins and bad stuff that builds up over the years (from processed foods such as meats, dairy, and refined sugars).  It has a 3 day ease in, 10 days of the "lemonade" diet with daily laxatives and daily salt water flushes, then 3 days ease out. The lemonade is a mixture of 2 tbsp of fresh squeezed organic lemon juice, 2 tbsp 100% pure grade B organic maple syrup, and a dash of cayenne pepper.  The lemon acts as a cleansing agent, the maple syrups gives you calories and energy, and the cayenne pepper heats up your body and speeds up your metabolism.  The cleanse completely expells all of the toxins from your body which gives you a chance to completely re charge your entire digestive system.  It's pretty cool!

Another thing that works if you are going for the weightloss factor is to just eat a lot of leefy greens with every meal, have them be the main course, not the protein, and also ONLY eat whole grains (ezekiel bread, 100% whole wheat pasta, organic brown rice) not processed breads and white pastas, those have no nutritional value what-so-ever and are only going to turn into sugar and fats in your body.  Eat a 60%/40% ratio of veggies to fruits everyday (remember fruits have a lot of sugar in them).  Fresh seafood without preservatives in it is also a great way to get those fatty acids that are good for you.

Be sure to include 30 minutes of cardio at least 4 days a week, and kickboxing will help to tone those arms and your core!

P.S.  I am studying to be a doctor of Natural Medicine - this is good information!

Best of luck on your journey for the right cleanse and hope you have a beautiful wedding!

<div>If you're studying to be a doctor of natural medicine, perhaps you should look into how the body naturally cleanses itself without potentially dangerous concoctions that can alter the natural and beneficial flora and fauna of the digestive tract in such a way that is harmful.</div><div>

  • I will kindly agree to disagree with you, Anna.  My naturopath is the one that recommended this cleanse to me, and I feel great, a lot of energy, and don't feel drained at all.  I have problems with certain foods (digesting certain types of dairy and wheats) and restarting my digestive system helps to target those problems.  This process has been around in eastern medicine for hundreds of years, though it may not be for everyone.  Everyone has different beliefs around what style of medical practice works for them.

Yes, the body does naturally expell (some) toxins through solid and liquid eliminations, however it does not get rid of the thick plaque of chemicals and toxins that sticks to the inner linings intestines which in turn prevents essential nutrients from being absorbed.  Without cleasing this, the thick dense fecal matter full of damage from our bodies throughout the years that is just sitting in our bodies is grounds for a lot of bacteria to form and essentially slowly poison us from the inside out.  But, again, I understand that we may have different beliefs in healthcare and we might not understand eachother, this is why I kindly agree to disagree with your comment above Smile

  • I think substituting a meal or two a day with an all fruit and veggie juice is viable, but I don't know about baked potatoes and ONLY eating fruits and/or veggies for a whole day. You'll end up gaining all of your weight back the moment your deter from this "diet" (Sorry but this girl's blog doesn't seem very legit).
  • If you are that upset about my beliefs in healthcare, my background, and my future, then maybe holistic medicine isn't for you!  I believe there are better cures for the problems in our bodies then putting more pharmaceuticals and man made chemicals back into them.  A lot of foods that people deem "healthy" simply aren't!  You can do as much research as you'd like about how you believe I am wrong in so many ways, but there is also a lot of research on my side that feels that a holistic approach using organic ingredients from the earth is a lot better for the body.

I don't understand how you can be so mean to one that you've never met.  I take a lot of pride in my education and my knowledge.  Didn't your mom teach you to treat others how you want to be treated?  I'm not throwing snotty comments your way or insulting your line of work or education.  We are all brides and on the same team!  I was just simply providing knowledge from my studies and my line of work and my beliefs.  I wasn't starting to attack people and be completely rude.

Keep the peace!  Be happy that this is your time to be a beautiful bride!
  • I don't see how eating 8 to 10 bananas in a day is going to cleanse anything.
  • Alright, I'll just put this out there.  The last time I lost 10 lbs in 7 days was when I had a virus that left me with permanent IBS.  Two weeks of horrific stomach cramping, GI losses, followed by gall bladder inflammation and the inability to smell any food without considering vomitting worked it's toll on me very quickly.  I could eat half a can of soup, and drink less than a bottle of water per day.  I almost kissed the doctor who finally prescribed me zofram.

Why did it stay off?  Because I couldn't eat normally for almost 3 months after that.

However, here I am, over a year later with 30 lbs back on me.  Just cause it causes quick weight loss doesn't mean it's healthy or good for you.

And I agree the toxin thing is crap.  We eat foods that cause free radical formation as well as inflammation (diets with high or exclusively omega 6 fatty acids tend to cause more of an inflammatory response than those higher in omega 3 fatty acids.)  However, if you switch and begin eating healthy and drinking more water your body does a pretty good job of purging any toxic metabolites that it has formed quickly.  We don't hold onto things forever and ever (ie gum does not sit in your stomach for 7 years).  If something sounds too grandiose, it's probably not true.

  • You do realise those shakes are made with un-fermented soy protien and contain sucralose right? Artifical sweeteners aren't typical of a "clean" diet not to mention the health/allergy hazards from the soy. Plus when you enrich something with vitamins and minerals it is no better than taking a 1 a day pill or something similar.

  • Also, yes some fruits may be high in calories and sugar, but those are NATURAL elements, not added calories or sweetners. So although they may seem high, your body absorbs then in the right way. I just think you can achieve the same results without having to put your body through so much trauma.....Just think when you gain it all  back, what will  you do then???

Just playing devil's advocate. But I did a cleanse marketed by Jillian Michaels earlier this year. It was the "Detox and Cleanse with probiotic replenishment". It basically was a set of pills I would take in the morning and at night with glasses of water. You were told to eat healthily and exercise during this cleanse. It's meant to support colon health, give you energy, flush toxins and reduce bloating. Not to be disgusting, but it basically just makes you go #2 a lot. Afterward, I felt fantastic and lost about 7 pounds in that week that I didn't gain back. I know this isn't real weigh loss... It basically was as if I had been weighing myself with bulky jewelry on, and after the cleanse was done, it's like taking the jewelry off..so of course you'll see weight loss results.  But I did feel a lot lighter, my stomach felt flatter and the initial weight loss motivated me to keep up with the healthy diet and work outs.

I actually did this cleanse about a month ago.  I lost about 7 pounds and decided to skip the day of only soup, I just ate the chicken and fruits and veggies again.  I also cheated a little on the veggie day with some dip.  I'll tell you the first day is by far the hardest, but after that, you get used to the fact that you can eat however much of what is on the specific days, and it gets a lot easier.  And as far as it being unhealthy, what do vegetarians or vegans do? They eat fruits and vegetables.  Many people eat only what they can grow themselves, and they are surviving just fine.  This isn't a dorito's diet, it's a wholistic diet that has you eating healthy things that are found in nature.  The reason it is split up like it is is to ensure you are getting the correct nutrients on each day, and replenishing your body from what it is lacking.  You are encouraged to take a multi-vitamin each day while doing the cleanse to make sure you are getting the correct nutrients if you aren't eating them.  There is nothing wrong with doing this for one week.
Now that I'm done ranting....Go for it! I had my fiance do it with me(although he cheated much more than I did) and a few ladies at work(I work at a dr's office) helped keep me on track! Really you just need to remember to eat alllll you want of the fruits and vegetables!!
I haven't regained any of the weight back, but have been watching what I eat somewhat.    And no, you don't "s*it your brains out" as someone suggested, you are regaining the potassium and calcium in your body that you lacked the first three days.
    Good luck!
