Too hot for a July wedding at the South Shore Pavilion?

Hey, I really like everything about the South Shore Pavilion except that it is not air conditioned, but I'm needing a slightly bigger place than what I was looking at before and I want to choose my own caterer and bring my own alcohol.  I'm looking at a Friday wedding for next July (Saturdays are already booked) but my fiance doesn't see the point in considering the South Shore Pavilion due to the lack of air.  It's on the lake, which makes it inherently cooler. What do you think?

Re: Too hot for a July wedding at the South Shore Pavilion?

  • It depends, I guess on whether or not we have a July like the one we're having now, I guess. Lol. You might want to look into giant fans and/or portable A/C units. What time will your reception be? That could make a difference (although, again, not if we have the kind of heat wave we've been having recently).
  • I know the recent heat wave is a big concern!  I wouldn't have the reception until 5 or so, dinner at 6.  I'll look into big fans to position around in corners of the room, that's a good idea.
  • We were looking into South Shore but changed our minds bc of the heat issue (we have a June wedding). It is beautiful though! Our other concern was that when we went to check it out, there was a lot of water tracked into the pavillion from swimmers... and mosquitoes on Memorial Weekend. Idk. They do have awesome reviews though so maybe we just went at a bad time. We decided on the Milwaukee Public Market instead bc it's also budget friendly, beautiful, and you can combine their vendors to customize your menu. Here are photos of the SSP and the MPM from our photographer:

  • Thanks for the input!  I just decided to go with my gut and book the South Shore Pavilion for Friday july 26th.  I will definitely check in to the wet floor issue, my friend has been to an August wedding there, she didn't mention it, so I'll ask.  I'd hope that the building manager would provide a clean building when being rented out!  I'm just relieved to have this all figured out.
