Invitations are going to make me crazy!

I have searched all over this board, as well as the DIY and Invites boards...I have looked at a million different sites, considered ordering pocketfolds and printing them myself...Ahhhhh!

I am totally overthinking this whole thing.  I want a simple, somewhat Vegasy pocketfold [only because I think they look better then flat cards..I have no clue why!]  So I'm here to beg for help! lol anyone care to share pics or info?  Maybe someone has a site I haven't looked at yet!

Thanks :)

Re: Invitations are going to make me crazy!

  • Gosh what a major pain the invitations were! I have pics in my bio but our weren't Vegas-y, though. Let me paste a link to an Etsy seller I had saved... Hope it works from the phone. http://www.etsy.com/listing/34579618/stella-reception-items-program-menu?ref=cat_gallery_17
  • Invitations were easily the toughest part of our wedding. Just wait until its time to send em! Woozah!!! Woozah!!! It'll be fine

  • Check out my bio! Invites were so tough for me too so I used ginger p designs to mold together two styles. Mine are modern with pocketfolds. =)
  • Thank you all :)  Ugh, I don't even want to think about sending them all out yet! Lol I'm having enough problems with the STDs.  I uploaded to VP and got 100 free postcards, only to find out that for some reason what I uploaded was crooked :(  So now I'm trimming postcards!!!

I'll definitely be checking out the etsy link, and Ginger P!!

Would it be totally horrible to just do a Facebook event invite?! Hahahaha totally kidding!

  • I wanted pocket fold as well.  Though, ours are not "vegasy".  I attached 2 photos below.  The 1st one is the front cover and the 2nd is the inside w/ the 4 inserts (bridal entourage, directions, rsvp and additional information.)  I had a hard time picking out which vendor too go with as well.  Because, I wanted to be able to work with the person; rather than doing it online and being surprise when I get all 100 back.  Though, it was a lot more than we expected to pay for each invitation but it was worth it.  You get what you pay for.  And everyone loved the invitation.

I went w/ 1st Impression Invitations.  Cathy Colbert is amazing!  I would highly recommend her.

  • Ugh, so we only sent out 30 invites (today, as a matter of fact!!), but it was a PITA.

Once you figure out what you're doing, I highly HIGHLY recommend doing the invites in waves.

One night, address all your RSVP cards and number them.  The next night, address all the regular envelopes.  The final night, put all the stamps on and double-check everything.  I felt like it was much easier focusing on one thing at a time and it (hopefully) helped me avoid mistakes!  Granted, I had a bunch of international envelopes and wonky stamps... so I needed extra attention to detail.

Thank you for the tip :)  I tend to try to overdo things, so breaking it down will be very helpful.  Then I can be OCD and check every little detail a zillion times!  Congrats on geting your invites out, I bet that's a huge relief! :)

We went over our list today, and I realized that I have to send out at least 60.. ahhhhh!!

  • Of course, happy to help!  I'm totally OCD, too :)  I told myself, once they were all done, I was NOT allowed to rip open the envelopes to make sure everything was right :P

There's some beautiful options here - I hope you quickly find something you love! :)
  • We bought ours from etsy... Even though a PP mentioned worrying over not being able to work with a vendor and the invitations being a surprise... The vendor should give you proofs of what yours will look like so it's not a surprise and you can let her know if there are any final changes...  My invitation designer was having trouble with getting the map done without any errors/typos but each time she would make a proof and then we OK'ed it when it was good.

IMHO it takes longer/is harder to get proofs from a bridal shop in person than it would be to do it online.

Do you want Vegas-themed invites or just something in the style of your wedding?  Almost all the cutest/creative invites I saw were on etsy so I would definitely try there.  I also liked supporting local businesses and people, especially with the economy being as hard as it is at the moment.

I've narrowed it down to a few choices now, and talked to my mom who has decided she's going to help pay for them.  Which is awesome, I can raise the invitation budget a bit to get something I actually like!!  She had never seen pocket folds, and couldn't understand why I was being so picky.  I showed her my options, and now she's totally onboard!

Lol I think once I triple check things, I'll be letting FI seal the envelopes and take them to the post office, then I can't second guess myself!

I've found several on Etsy that I absolutely love!!  Now I just have to pick one :)  That's awesome that your designer was so helpful, that's definitely reassuring!
