Help me dress my mom (PIP)

OK, so my mom needs your help.  She can't decide what to wear for my wedding.  The only requirement I've given her is that she MUST be happy and comfortable with what she's wearing - I don't care if it's pants or a dress and I don't care what color she's wearing.  (FYI, my colors are navy blue, red and white...BM's will be wearing navy blue dresses, Groom and GM's in black tuxes with red ties and vests, FG in a red and white dress and RB in a red polo, navy docker style pants and white vans).

I think she looks beautiful in both outfits.  She has shown the 2 pictures to everyone at church and they all agree both are fine, but can't get a general yes or no for either outfit.  She asked me to post the question to you lovely ladies...she said don't just look at which outfit looks nicer/better on her, but also which one is more appropriate for the occasion and time of day (ceremony is at 11am followed by a full 4 hour lunch reception).

I'll pop in and out to check in today, so thanks in advance everyone!

#1 - Black Palazzo pants with a red and black glitter print top

#2 - Charcoal grey dress

I like both but the red top seems more snazzy.

I love the dress, and I think she could really dress it up with some pretty jewellery :) They're both nice though!

Is she more comfortable in one or the other?

My preference is #1, the pop of colour looks great and she could add some nice gold pieces to it.

BUT if she is more comfortable in #2 then I'd say add some fun accessories and let 'er rip!

She really looks great in both!

I think she is more comfortable in one over the other (I won't say which so that I don't influence anyone's vote), but she wanted to see what unbiased opinions would bring.

I love the color of #1 :)  So I voted that way

I'm with everyone else. I love how she looks in the first outfit. The pop of red is amazing.

Yeah, so I'm the oddball.  I like #2 better.  She just looks a little happier in it... I dunno.

    #2 with a pretty necklace.

She can't go wrong with either choice. I picked #2 because I thought it was more appropriate for daytime. #1 is great, but it looked like more of an evening outfit.

I really like the first option. I think it has more pizzaz than the dress.

I just think the fit of the dress doesn't look flattering at all in that picture.  She looks much more confident in the sparkly shirt.

I'm apparently in the minority, but I much prefer the dress.

I prefer the dress because I think it seems to be more appropriate for a day time wedding. However, I do think that the pants outfit is more flattering though. I'm torn.

I would wear a dress but a different one than the selected choice. The color and fit isn't too flattering. Maybe go shopping together and make it a mother/daughter day!

Thanks everyone - I'll show my mom the results and see what she thinks - ultimately it's her decision, but it does look like the pants outfit is the more popular choice.

Honestly, Ang, the pants outfit is WAY more flattering.

I think #1 is better overall, but #2 is more daytime-appropriate. Maybe that's partly why she's torn--neither one is perfect...? If it were me, I'd look at a few more options before deciding; but even if she does wear one of these two, she'll look great!
